Pinta is a simple graphics program. It is listed in the package installer but nothing gets installed when I tried to pick the program there. I checked for pinta in synaptic but there nothing is found.
Pinta is listed on the debian.org package list as well.
So, what’s the problem ?December 4, 2017 at 6:26 am #3371Forum Admin

Did you update your system or reload synaptic?
Maybe your sources list is wrong?

::welcome to the joys of debian “testing”.
pinta was removed at the end of october, according to the debian package tracker.

It’s dead, Jim

Jonathan Pobst (pinta developer)
delix02, although pinta is essentially EOL (has been, for 5+ yrs), the pinta package is currently still present debian’s unstable and stable repositories.
Without messing around your source.list(s), you can visit http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/p/pinta/
and download the debfile via web browser. After download (optional, but I recommend) use “gdebi” to inspect/check “all dependencies are satisfiable”, then install via gdebi, or via commandline:
sudo dpkg -i pinta_1.6-2_all.debcaveat:
I am not _recommending_ use of pinta. It was a crash-prone bugger back when I tested it.December 5, 2017 at 2:10 am #3406Memberdelix02
::thanks for the hints. I never watched the tracker……..
I’ll wait and see what happens with the package before I give it a try. -
