Thanks linuxdaddy,
That works perfectly!

great to hear,
which steps did if you can post which order worked out because there were several
posts on diff ideas and ways.
On mine I have my first post method and it works without any other fiddling on
several media players (xmms, alsaplayer), I only changed my autostuff to see if
it helped yours and glad to see it did. Guess could mark as solved on this thread.
If me or you could put the steps down on a defualt install .. it would make a nice little
how-to
btw greyowl,
here’s a shot of my alsa setup to play music cds on my main pc
it’s all alsa … the mixer, player, etc.
seamonkey browser with forum open.
and alsaplayer with music going.
all under 1gb ram on a 64-bit pc.
can’t beat it 🙂
its:
alsaplayer-gtk
alsamixer-gui
I have a few other alsa packages installed as well.
from the stretch repos setup as my default ones on 17.4.1
Actually, I didn’t really understand that XMMS would be the app to access the audeo CD.
After people were posting that XMMS should work, I tried it by clicking on the menu, then clicking “play directory” and it worked right off.
As for the auto play, your final instructions for the command, worked perfectly.
So it wasn’t many steps.
