Are there any security risks
by enabling it?AFAIK: yes. For Desktop-Systems, this shouldn’t be a thing, but there aren’t only People running Desktops out there, so the feature is disabled by default.
Since antiX is desktop-centric, I would suggest that devs enable Alt+SysRq REISUB by default so that users could shut down a hanged machine in a safer way:

I favor the implementation of a “sane default” which attempts to provide a balance between convenience~~security
Thankfully, many years have passed since I’ve ever wanted/needed to use the “magic keys”. I do vaguely recall incorporating an “echo blahbla > /proc/sysrq-trigger” line into a script during recent years (maybe -s to force a sync operation? but why not just exec the sync command, instead?) and checking today, I see that CONFIG_MAGIC_SYSRQ_DEFAULT_ENABLE=0x1 for the kernel installed on this antiX17 system, so am left wondering whether that configuration detail of your (presumably) newer kernel was an oversight, or was intentionally chosen.
