Hi folks,
I have a problem.
I successfully installed antiX 17.4.1 on my harddrive, with partition, grub and erverything worked out fine. The desktop started, installation finished.
I was asked to reboot without the installation medium, which was a USB Stick, so I ejected the USB Stick and said ‘yes’ reboot. Now,
instead of rebooting the system, the screen changes to a login, looking kinda like this:Welcome to antiX 17.4.1 (Helen Keller) 32-bit! Powered by Debian.
For command line install, login as root (password=root).
Enter the command cli-installer. Follow the instructions.
Use the command antiX-cli-cc for easy access to many commands.
antix1 login: _What do I have to type in there please?
No logins or passwords that I know or the offered commands there work.
Yet I didn’t want to pull the plug and restart by keeping the power button pressed.
Anyone can help me on this please?June 20, 2019 at 5:59 am #23494Forum Admin

::Hi, thank you for your respond.
I am using a full iso (antiX-17.4.1_386-full.iso).
No, I didn’t do such a md5sum check. (sorry, I don’t even know what that is).
Thanks a lot for that link, I will watch it now.
— Oh yes, I watched some of those videos. No one had that problem. Nowhere appeared the same login screen as mine. —Thanks.
No effect on any entry yet.- This reply was modified 3 years, 10 months ago by Max.

::Hi Max,
If the installer finished and installed grub fine. It sounds like you
ejected the usb while the desktop was still running … the installer after
clicking yes will close the desktop and tell you when to safely remove.
You could see if doing actrl-alt-deleteand letting it boot from
the harddrive works.June 20, 2019 at 6:11 am #23500MemberMax
::Thank you.
Yes, I ejected the installation-USB, while Desktop was still running.CTRL-ALT-DELETE –> INIT: cannot execute “/sbin/shutdown”

::I will launch the whole thing again (luckily on this distribution it is so very quickly done)
trying to avoid early removal of that stick and see what will happen.June 20, 2019 at 6:16 am #23504Anonymous
::Yeah, it’s trying to read but the stick is already ejected. You could try
a hard shutdown….holding the power button for a 4-5 seconds then turning back

::That worked. Hard shutdown and boot from the hdd was successfull. I was just anxious about a hard shutdown, unsure if the installation was enterily completed.
Than I’ll work on the settings now.
Thank you very much.
Have a nice day!p.s. do I have to mark this topic as “solved” or s.th. like that please?

::If I am correct you can leave the USB in place when you are finished with the install. If you end up booting back to the USB you can choose “Boot from Hard Disk” off the menu. I forget and leave a Live USB in all the time and end up noticing it only after it boots. But the grub entry to boot from hard disk saves me.
