Hello, All.
I like using a pomodoro (or ‘tomato’) timer to remind myself to get up out of my chair on a regular basis. But the popular GNOME Pomodoro timer doesn’t seem to work well on antiX. It does count down, but then does not do any of the attention getting screen blanking or any of that to get your attention.
Does anyone know of a Pomodoro timer app that works well on antiX?
Thanks in advance!

::Hello Mynaardt.
PPC has developed “ft10-transformation” which has two types of timers, maybe this will interest you. Install the “ft10-transformation.deb” package (version 1.4.10) with Synaptic.

::Hi again, marcelocripe!
I should have answered sooner.
I did try ft10-transformation. It is a pretty cool package. Thanks for telling me about it.

::It’s no pretty, but I wrote my own Pomodoro script. I’ll post it here as an option if anyone else wants it. You’ll have to supply your own notification sound and a path to it, and I commented out the line that sends a notification to mutt. I had mutt send a text message to my phone in case I was away from my computer when the long break ended. Uncomment the line and put in the email address of your choice to re-enable the feature (oh, and install and configure mutt, which is always a good idea whether one uses the script or not).
This code is public domain, and I’m sure I should be ashamed of it, but it got the job done.
#!/bin/bash # Pomodoro timer sprint=1 while [ $sprint -lt 4 ]; do counter=25 while [ $counter -gt 0 ]; do clear echo There are $counter minutes remaining in Pomodoro session number $sprint. sleep 60 let counter=counter-1 done if [[ $sprint -lt 3 ]]; then play -q ~/Bin/chime.wav notify-send "Take a short break." counter=5 while [ $counter -gt 0 ]; do clear echo "There are $counter minutes remaining in break number $sprint." sleep 60 let counter=counter-1 done play -q ~/Bin/chime.wav notify-send "Back to work!" else play -q ~/Bin/chime.wav notify-send "Take a long break." counter=15 while [ $counter -gt 0 ]; do clear echo There are $counter minutes remaining in this long break. sleep 60 let counter=counter-1 done play -q ~/Bin/chime.wav notify-send "Back to work!" # Following line sends an email to specified address if mutt is installed. # echo "Back to work!" | mutt <insert@email.com> fi let sprint=sprint+1 done- This reply was modified 7 months, 1 week ago by ezno.

I’ll check it out some time.
I know a little bit about bash scripts. But not much, I must admit.
