      Hi! I need someone who can explain me how to install a Brother MFC-7460DN printer on a 10 or 12 years old HP Compaq pc. I am very new to Linux. My own efforts have been without success. With best wishes, Yogendra

          @Yogendra- noclue already answered your question, read both links, but it all depends on how “new to linux” you are…
          If you know really next to nothing maybe I can be a bit more detailed:
          1- click the first link noclue sent in his reply.
          2- antiX is Debian based. This means it’s applications are provided in .deb file format, so you have to click and select “Linux (deb)”, then click “ok”.
          3- I tried that, and the install is not very linear: The next window does not provide a .deb file, but several more options. I tried “LPR printer driver (deb package)” then choose English language, then agreed to the EULA, finally, the .deb file downloads.
          4- Open SpaceFM file browser from the menu, navigate to to the folder where you downloads this .deb file (usually something like home/USER_NAME/Downloads). Right click the .deb file and choose “Gdebi”. A new window pops up. Click to install the file and wait for it to install.
          5- You probably need to download, from the brother page, “CUPSwrapper printer driver (deb package)” and install that too. Test your printer. If needed, try to install your printer from Menu- Control Centre, now it should be recognized by your system. If if does not work, read http://dotbootstrap.x2q.net/brother-mfc-7440n-ppd-linux-cupslpr-driver/
          6- You probably have to repeat the download and install process for the scanner driver and fax driver, if you want to use those functions under antiX…
          7- If you can’t make your printer work using the .deb files, try the first option from the brother webpage, download it, and click to uncompressed it, and try to run the uncompressed installer…

          I did not test any of this, I just tried to present some info in a more newbie friendly way. Noclue is the one with the brains, I just speak “newbie” better 🙂

          If you have any more problems, just say so, we usually are a helpful bunch here…

          P.

            @Yogendra: I run the Brother DCP-9020CDW it’s a multi function as yours and maybe construction compatible.
            I wrote a little bash-script to get the drivers automatically installed -YOU NEED TO ADJUST it to your needs.

            ======= snip =======

            #!/bin/bash

            source /opt/bin/bash_functions
