      I got this error while installing Fsearch using this code

      $ sudo apt install git build-essential automake autoconf libtool pkg-config intltool autoconf-archive libpcre3-dev libglib2.0-dev libgtk-3-dev libxml2-utils
      $ git clone https://github.com/cboxdoerfer/fsearch.git
      $ cd fsearch
      $ ./autogen.sh
      $ ./configure
      $ make && sudo make install

      The Error

      The following packages have unmet dependencies:
       libc6-dev : Depends: libc6 (= 2.31-13) but 2.31-13+deb11u2 is to be installed
      E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

      any help is much appreciated

        Please tell us on which antiX are you trying to install the software.
        I just made a test-install on antiX21-full and don’t see the error.

            I would bet my computer you installed a package from either a different source that brought different version libraries and now you have mixed library versions.

            Please, check versions available for libc6
            apt policy libc6-dev libc6
            And see if you have an installed version with a missing source.

            You will have to force install the other version of the packages.

              it is brand new installation just installed chrome, microsoft edge and VScode,
              and i solved the problem right now by downgrading the package using this command
              sudo apt install libc6=2.31-13

                Not sure if this is really solved, antiX21 comes with libc6 and libc6-dev from debian bullseye, so libc6 2.31-13+deb11u2
                There must have happened something unusual on your system.

                  I had the same problem, and it is not related to Fsearch (I actually couldn’t install many development packages because of this).
                  This is what I did to fix it: Go to Control Centre -> Software -> Repo Manager; in the “Debian repos” tab, hit “Select fastest Debian repo for me”. This changed the default repo to another one. Then I updated the system, which replaced libc6 with libc6++deb11u2, so no more unmet dependencies.
