I am experimenting with 1-to-1 Assistance on my local LAN with 2 antiX 21 runit 64 full laptops, with all updates applied. Version 1.2.4 was installed by the package installer. Both have been running many versions of antiX for years and run via Wifi, connected to the same router. I followed the Dolphin Oracle video and the 1440×900 remote asked for permission to connect to the 1600×900 provider, and I clicked the Yes. It says it is connected, but the provider PC stayed on the SSVNC :0 screen as though it was still waiting to connect. I made the window larger and took a screenshot.
BTW, This program is a lot better to setup than Remmina.
Any ideas why it doesn’t display the remote screen or how to diagnose?
PS: I noticed that it doesn’t show the correct IP address of the remote which is 192.168.1.112, but don’t know if it’s supposed to or not. The site with help on the SSVNC program is down.
PSS: When it connected, I see it showed the correct IP at that point. I wonder if both machines running from USB without different hostnames might be causing a problem?

::I tried again with the remote being a laptop running from USB, ie not installed, and the provider being an installed machine.
The provider is already running, waiting for a connection, and I start the remote session. It asks for permission to connect, but its saying the localhost is asking to connect. That seems odd.
This time the remote says nothing is connected. The provider machine still seems to be waiting…
What info can I give that will help figure this out?

::When tested here it works correctly i.e. as shown in the video by dolphin_oracle and the guide in the antiX FAQ.
Tentative conclusion; something locally is contributing to the symptoms described.

Perhaps following the same method might reveal some clues.Test Preparation
• Using antiX version prior to 21, set up 1-to1 Assistance on 2 live USB systems (establishes a known working baseline)
• Note: Do not use 19.x. It does work but a packaging issue makes it fiddly to install.• antiX-21-b2-runit_x64-full.iso downloaded and integrity checked
• ISO put on USB via Live USB Maker
• Laptop booted in live mode, no persistence, toram (ensures clean, known environment at each boot)
• antiX not updated/upgraded i.e. running as shipped (avoids potential issues with user installed software)
• 1-to-1 Assistance installed via apt-get install (allows easy reporting of installation problems)Test Strategy
• Within antiX-21… run 1-to-1 Assistance on a single machine, once in receiver mode, once in provider mode
• Within the known good live USB (prior to antiX 21) use 1-to-1 Assistance in the opposite mode
• Repeat each test twice in receiver mode (1 x resize, 1 x unchanged)
• Note: After each test exit (close down) both instances of 1-to-1 Assistance and restart for the subsequent testTests
• Boot antiX-21 live USB
• Start 1-to-1 Assistance using menu item 1-to-1 Assistance
• Select Provider mode• Boot the known good live USB (prior to antiX 21)
• Start 1-to-1 Assistance using menu item 1-to-1 Assistance
• Select Receiver modeOutcome: Receiver desktop shown on provider desktop (for both resize and unchanged)
• Repeat both tests employing the alternative mode on each system
Outcome: Receiver desktop shown on provider desktop (for both resize and unchanged)

::Samk, Thanks for your detailed input.
I will try again following your methods and antiX 21 64 runit. One big difference was that I updated the software and remastered before trying 1-to-1. I will also use the machines that it will be used on so there is no problem later.
The big advantage of 1-to-1 was its ease of configuration.
