Users are having problems with a personal snapshot of a fully updated Antix 19.2 system..
Installation completes without notifying of errors but when the system is rebooted user is unable
to login with any password we can think of..

A login is possible as root with the original root password but always ends up in a fluxbox session.

The only way I have found to rectify the situation is to login as root and recreate a user password from the console.

Loss of alternate desktops menu items after updates is causing irritation.
I found a post on the MX-Antix forum.
      seems we must either do
      sudo apt install –reinstall desktop-session-antix
Or logout then select other desktop before logging in again. Either using F1 or the checkbox.

Unfortunately new users and some long term users do not consider that very intuitive.
For now I am considering an “Update Desktop list” entry to the personal menu that performs a gksudo apt install –reinstall desktop-session-antix as suggested by PPC in the parallel forum posts.
A real bugfix would be nice, I am not sure if it would work, maybe i can try and attach the command to my update alias.

Ideas welcome and many thanks to all who contribute to AntiX.

The very latest desktop-session-antix (uploaded a day or so ago) should fix this.
Let me know if it does.

I need to check the snapshot part. Do you know when this starting malfunctioning?
IIRC the snapshot app hasn’t been updated for a while.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Thanks for info, regarding desktop session antix, will test.

Unfortunately I am unable to figure out when the snapshot
started to have issues, had not used it for months to reinstall.
Antix very rarely gives serious problems, bad for troubleshooting
          practice, good for users :-).

Reinstalls only came about because we are giving an image with
Libreoffice 7 some testing and moved another Thinkpad to antix.
