Hi!
I just got a new laptop and wanted to install linux distros on it. First problem I encountered was switching SATA configuration to AHCI, but once I had done that I was able to install Linux Mint 20.1 alongside Windows 10. Next thing I wanted to do was install AntiX 19.3. I created the bootable USB stick, boot from USB, and I get the AntiX menu. I select the first option, and then the screen goes blank and nothing happens. I have to shut down the computer manually. I tried the other menu options, fail-safe, etc, but no luck. I tried the same installation USB on an older laptop and it works fine. I’ve installed AntiX on three (old) computers so far with no issues. What could be the issue? Here is the output from inxi Fxz:

::Hello.
Your issue is pretty similar to https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/amd-radeon-graphics-issues/#post-50173.
Because the hardware is very very new, its drivers were not included in the Long Term Support kernel 4.9 included by default in antiX. Unfortunately for your case, it seems that the other antiX release with kernel 4.19 doesn’t include support for the newer 10th generation intel CPUs, so it will also not work for you. You need a similar kernel version as the Linux Mint you are running (kernel 5.X).One of the antiX forum contributors also had problems with his 10th generation intel CPU and recently got it to work with antiX using the 5.8 antiX kernel.
If you want to get antiX to work on your computer, create a live USB with the live usb maker (in antiX), boot live with it on your older computer, install the 5.8 kernel, select to remaster the live USB, then use the live kernel updater to make the newer 5.8 kernel the default and shutdown. Try then to use the live USB with updated kernel to boot in your newer computer.antiX Live system enthusiast.

::Hi Xecure and thanks for your reply.
I tried that solution but it didn’t work. Still the same blank screen after trying to boot from USB. I get some errors while installing the 5.x kernels. I first tried the latest 5.8.16, then 5.8.7, and finally this one:

::See if this ISO works for you. I created it with the Build.iso tool, so it is very similar to antiX 19.3 full x64 but with kernel 5.8.16

I only tested it on a Virtual machine, so I am not sure if it works as I expect.antiX Live system enthusiast.

::It works! Thank you! Now for the fun part, customizing AntiX!
I’m suprised how well AntiX works with a high-resolution screen. Linux Mint was giving me hell, and I had to resize all the window buttons for close/max/min manually because that wasn’t part of their one and only HD-theme.
Thanks again!

::We are fortunate to have some people in our community who have high resolution monitors and have experience in setting them up and configuring them, then making sure that antiX includes the features needed.
Linux Mint and other distros could do it too but we have the specific details included, thanks to helpful participants.
