Hi i have been having problems with my Antix updater and its dependencies. I have further compounded them by uninstalling libavodec-extra and libavodec-extra58 which was automatically replaced by libavutil56, libswresample3 and libvo-amrwbenc0 this occurred when my chromium updates became corrupted and was showing a one hour and 13 mins to complete. My internet connection is very fast. Could my updater was being controlled or re-routed by a hacker?.
Which is the best safest or latest thing to have in regard of the correct codecs also have i put my computer at risk? I think the above effects all my browsers? Have tried to put libavodec-extra and libavodec-extra58 back but they have been fully uninstalled unknown to me when i used my synaptic package manager out of frustration.
Have changed my update dependencies back to a UK mirror.- This topic was modified 2 years, 10 months ago by md4.

::antiX updater applet (or mini app to check for updates) only uses sudo apt update, and then executes sudo apt dist-upgrade to install your updates. If you don’t want it to run, uncomment the line related to it in ~/.desktop-session/startup fil and it will never launch again.
I have further compounded them by uninstalling …
Sorry, I don’t know what this means.
Maybe you have added some extra repo to your repo list, and that is causing the problem with the browsers.I think the best you could do is reinstall any of the browsers to get them to reinstall the missing packages. For example, for firefox.
sudo apt install --reinstall firefoxIf that doesn’t work. Purge the package and then install again.
sudo apt purge firefox sudo apt install firefoxTo check if some other repo is installing stuff on your pc, check
inxi -rWhich is the best safest or latest thing to have in regard of the correct codecs
Simply install them using the option in the Control Centre (Menu > Control Centre > Drivers > Codecs Installer) or search codecs in the antiX Package Installer.
The hacking suspicions I also don’t understand. Could you elaborate a bit more about this?

::Hi thanks for your reply. Its now happening with all the Antix browser updates. Wondered if it could be linux server? or introducing my UFW firewall to on. Sometimes it even shows
that it takes 3-4 minutes to download Firefox. Other times i have noticed the indicated download would take one hour and 11 minutes. That’s really strange when my download speeds are in excess of 64mb’s!!! with roughly 10 upload! Have tried fiddling with the mirrors.
Thanks for your help.- This reply was modified 2 years, 10 months ago by md4.

::After connecting to the internet, go to Control Centre, Maintenence, Repo Manager, and click on Select fastest antiX repo for me. When its done, click close. Then try updating again.
