Prohibit your gamepad from moving the mouse cursor in games:
Create the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/51-joystick.conf as follows:
Section “InputClass”
Identifier “joystick catchall”
MatchIsJoystick “on”
MatchDevicePath “/dev/input/event*”
Driver “joystick”
Option “StartKeysEnabled” “False”
#Disable mouse
Option “StartMouseEnabled” “False”

Save & close file. I had to reboot, but thereafter it worked perfectly.
