Tagged: remove flash drive
Hello Friends
I use spacefm in antiX. I was wondering if I’m removing my USB drive correctly. This is what I do:
1. Open spacefm.
2. On the left panel, I right-click my USB flash drive.
3. I either click unmount or eject, more often I click unmount and then eject.
4. Then I pull out the USB flash drive.
Thank you
That will work, but I make sure to allow time for it to finish writing anything. I have noticed that I need to be running it as root in order to mount drives, so its usually running as root on mine.
Once I unmount, I have noticed that the “Unplug Removeable Device” icon on the toolbar says that there is nothing to remove, so therefore think the eject is unnecessary at that point.
That icon does work, BTW, if you don’t already have SpaceFM already running…
Some flash drives light up when mounted, but then again some don’t. If you have one that does light up, when the light goes out it’s safe to unplug.
