Forum › Forums › General › Software › Protestware On the Rise: Why Developers Are Sabotaging Their Own Code
It seems to me to be self-defeating. No one will ever again trust a developer who does that.

Is this really “sabotage” or are they being forced to “sabotage” their own programs?
Será que se trata mesmo de “sabotagem” ou será que eles estão sendo obrigados a fazerem a “sabotagem” em seus próprios programas?
According to the article, it seems some developers are doing this on purpose, in protest of something.

Personally speaking (not as an antiX dev), I can understand why someone *would* want to sabotage their own work for a *cause*.
We have seen this happening throughout history and such actions should not be considered as something *new*.
IMO it depends on whether the *cause* is worthy and to what extent an alternative to *self* sabotage is available as a way to protest.
antiX has been criticised (and is still being criticised in the blog/youtube sphere) for including political content (ie anti-capitalist bookmarks, the names of our releases, the ‘Proudly anti-fascist’ message in the forum/main site banner). But, we are totally open about it.
We have no need to ‘sabotage’ our code.
Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
