I am trying to install protonvpn from apt while I met the error on systemD, does anyone knows how to fix this?

      Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
python3-protonvpn-nm-lib : Depends: python3-systemd but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Hi, if you have any issues, especially installing packages, please post more information about your system (e.g. output of ‘inxi -Fxz’ in a TXT file, any customisations that you did etc.).

antiX is a Debian-based distribution without ‘systemd’, hence some related packages may be missing or not be available/installable due to ‘systemd’ being prevented from being installed.

Let me show you a way of analysing installation problems (apart from – temporarily – switching repositories) in my antiX-testing (!) system:
        1) ‘apt-cache policy python3-systemd’ outputs that there is no installed and no candidates.
        2) https://packages.debian.org/bullseye/python3-systemd indicates that this package depends on ‘libsystemd0’ which also is not install-able in my system.
        3) This is a python package, you may try to install it using ‘pip’.

        Regarding item no. 3)
The output of step 1) (stating a version 235-1 available in Debian repositories) indicates this is the correct project https://pypi.org/project/systemd-python/ (did search https://pypi.org for ‘systemd’ and manually scanned for appropriate version number) and its home https://github.com/systemd/python-systemd README file shows proper way of building from source on Debian|*buntu systems requires some ‘systemd’ packages to be installed first.
At least one of them is not installable in my system (verified as in the step of 1)).
I.e. building from source would fail and it is likely that installing using pip would not provide a functional library due to the expected dependency.

Ah, I noticed you intend to install ‘protonvpn’.
There are already some posts regarding this service, please do a search on the main site:
          https://www.antixforum.com/forums/search/protonvpn/

          Perhaps, it will help.

Exploring the page of this product lead me to installation instruction in Debian and Kali Linux (another Debian-based Linux):
          https://protonvpn.com/support/official-linux-vpn-debian/
          https://protonvpn.com/support/official-linux-vpn-kali/
both explicitly state that ‘systemd’ is a dependency.

If that is true and ‘protonvpn’ is a must for you (and it cannot be cheated by thinking ‘systemd’ is installed), then antiX is not the right distribution, perhaps you could try MX Linux and booting into the systemd-version.

This post allows me to use protonVPN. Not sure if it relies on systemD though.
