Guide how to set a random wallpaper with Unsplash.
One of the great features Upslash is generating random photos that can be used as wallpaper, we can set the wallpaper with feh
To get examples of Unsplash links that generate a random image:
1) https://awik.io/generate-random-images-unsplash-without-using-api/
2) https://allegra9.medium.com/unsplash-without-api-ab2dcdb503a0Replace LINK with the Upsplash link like the one with “random” or the one using a “collections”, you can set the resolution and add search words, you can try it in the terminal.
feh --bg-scale "LINK"How to set the random wallpaper in AntiX
1) Adding the wallpaper in startup, open Control Center > Session > User Desktop-Session and the the command to startup with & at the end.
Example:
feh --bg-scale "LINK" &2) Setting a hotkey to change the wallpaper, it can be done with Add Key app, menu > applications > preferences > Add Key, select the key binding and add the command.
Notes
* I don’t know where the image is saved, I looked with the command df and didn’t see increase when setting a wallpaper, I think it’s saved in the RAM.
* I didn’t being able to set it crontab, it didn’t execute the command feh.
* For some reason Unsplash HTTP links are blacklisted in this forum, so I couldn’t post the links

The wallpaper selection screen in antiX may not be flashy, but it’s very good- it has an option to randomize wallpapers at any given interval. Maybe Dave can add an option to directly get wallpapers from web sites? I’ll probably never use that feature, but it could be a nice little extra, since, from what I read from the OP, it does not seem to require much scripting work…

It will be nice if it was build into Antix.
Having the ability to change random wallpapers is very nice, I currently use this collection that have over 2k images, also it have the ability show random images with search terms to get random of your liking.
