I am trying to make a recording by external microphone on a desktop with antiX 17 Base, 64_bit system.
The microphone is connected to the microphone jack, old Philips microphone.
Traverso seems to be working but there is no sound recorded.

(I also have a laptop, with AntiX 19 Base 64 bit, which I believe has built in microphone, but Traverso is not in AntiX 19 repos, nor can I find any other suitable program for recording from internal microphone – preferably not command line but something easy to use.)

Whichever solution will do, on desktop with AntiX 17 or laptop with AntiX 19, but the recording needs to be done.

This is the desktop with AntiX 17:

When shopping for alternatives to any given package, you can visit https://packages.debian.org and search for the name of a known pckage, then visit its details page and take note of the “Similar packages:” listed in the right column of the page.

In this case, we can note that “audacity” and “ardour” are alternative programs
        https://packages.debian.org/bullseye/traverso
I would encourage you to install and attempt using one of these.

FWIW, I checked to see whether traverso v0.49.6-1+b1 from debian sid will build on antiX19. Yes, it will, but the build spews a ridiculous number of compiler warnings (indicating careless/sloppy code). AFTER building it, I noticed the debian packagers chose to withhold alsa support (-DWANT_ALSA=OFF, -DUSE_SYSTEM_SLV2_LIBRARY=ON , -DWANT_MP3_ENCODE=ON, -DDETECT_HOST_CPU_FEATURES=OFF) so, unless you are using JACK, that 64-bit debfile I generated would be useless. I’ll leave the source + debfile on gitlab for a few days in case, and you want to try using that debfile.

        traverso v0.49.6-1 from debian sid,
packaged for antiX19 64-bit (using debian buster repos):
        https://gitlab.com/skidoo/traverso/-/blob/master/traverso__SID/traverso_0.49.6-1_amd64.deb

        or

traverso v0.49.4-2, from the debian stretch repo, ALSA support enabled,
packaged for antiX19 64-bit (using debian buster repos):
        https://gitlab.com/skidoo/traverso/-/blob/master/traverso_0.49.4-2/traverso_0.49.4-2_amd64.deb

It seems like installing audacity damaged the system on my laptop with AntiX 19 Base, 64 Bit.
Synaptic is no longer working, no files can be installed. I have tried to change repos with repo manager, it doesn’t seem to work.
Says that outdata file is full for the repos.
I choose full uninstall of audacity, but the dependencies stayed, only audacity uninstalled.

Lucky it was the laptop and not my desktop which is used for work, that would have been quite a disaster!

Any suggestions on how to get the system properly working again, or do I have to reinstall Antix Base ?

Remove debian multimedia repos. By default they are disabled.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

No change afer unmarking multimedia repo.

This is the error message, in Swedish. Basically it says Error when writing to outdata file (28: Unity is full).

First, it would be good if you could use the code tags in the future. It makes it easier to read.
Second, you have already answered your own question. THE DRIVE IS FULL. See your own inxi output:

                Partition: ID-1: / raw size: 4.88 GiB size: 4.74 GiB (97.15%) used: 4.49 GiB (94.7%) fs: ext4

You have only asigned 5GBs to / (root) partition, while you assigned 25GBs to home. Programs install in / (root), and personal files are stored in /home. If you want to install thing in you antiX system, make / (rooT) bigger. IT IS FULL.

                  Thank you Xecure!

The error message was copied and pasted, it looks like that.

To make the microphone recording as fast as possible, would it be possible just to uninstall some programs ?

And later reinstall AntiX 19, when I have more time.
