        Hi,

I usually work with ‘ssh -X’ (‘ssh -XC’).
Though I have considered to use some GUI akin to some of the VNC variants.
You may try search the packages (and analyze the output), e.g.:
        apt-cache search remote | grep -i connect
or more specific for the VNC
        apt-cache search vnc | grep -i vnc

I suspect that not all of them may be installable due to systemd-related dependencies.

            Dear Silvioto,
I would truly appreciate what you did to make it work.

I found another interesting service (free and open source), and have accessible pricing plans too.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

                        Hi Silvioto,
I have downloaded ‘anydesk_6.2.0-1_-amd64.deb’. When I left click nothing happens. When I right click on it, it tells me “set run action”. A small window opens asking me to “enter a shell command”. What do I enter and where is it?

Peter, There are instructions in section 6.2 of PPC’s How to Install Apps. Its at the top of the thread list along with other basic info on running antiX.

                          https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/how-to-install-applications-2020-version/

PS: You have to understand that antiX Linux is free software, and you haven’t paid for thousands of support people to sit here and do everything for you. You need to take the responsibility to search, investigate and experiment on your own (this is how you learn). You need to understand that all you did was download a package file containing the software, and it isn’t going to run until after you install it.

Working with computers is FUN once you get to where YOU control your computer, rather than it controlling you.

                            I used

                            cd Downloads
                            sudo dpkg -i anydesk*

                            from roxterm

and it installed anydesk, works great for remote work.

You can also open a terminal and type
                              sudo apt install
Press the space bar once and now drag and drop the anydesk_6.2.0-1_-amd64.deb to the terminal.
                              Press enter.
                              Easiest way in my opinion.

Peter, I went and read the thread to see how it recommended doing the install, and after making sure it provided an answer like Caprea’s (although I didn’t know drag and drop would work, I always copy/paste or tab fill the filename), I then pointed you to the fact that there was a “sticky” thread for these basic newbie questions with answers already written (with other answers to other basic questions, too), I gave you a link to it, and identified the exact paragraphs you needed to read.

Yes, it would have been easier to give you a one line answer, but then you wouldn’t have learned how to find the answer yourself, and you would stay dependent on asking questions rather than learning how YOU could control your antiX system. I’m not saying its bad to just give an answer, but the task of installing a software package on your own from a .deb file is a basic operation that you should learn to be comfortable doing, once you figure out what will work, or be safer vs dangerous or problematic.

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

Once you learn a bit more it will be second nature, but you need to invest the time and effort to add to your list of tasks you have mastered. Don’t feel bad about it, just keep trying. We were all there once.
