Hello VitForlinux.

I thank you for your initiative and collaborate as I can, including the translation features I was able to do and with tests.
After applying the translation features, I created the .pot, .po e .mo. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make the translation of the texts “_Pick” and “_Description” to work, I’m still learning to adapt the scripts to receive the translation features.
In the test I did, with the PT-BR translation, the program worked and in this monet Liveusb has only one kernel installed. The “image-4.9.0” was successfully removed, with only Antix 21-bits’ “Headers-4.9.0” “Headers-4.9.0”.

Eu agradeço por sua iniciativa e colaboro como posso, incluindo os recursos de tradução que eu consegui fazer e com testes.
Após aplicar os recursos de tradução, eu criei o arquivo .pot, .po e .mo. Infelizmente, eu não consegui fazer funcionar a tradução dos textos “_Pick” e “_Description”, eu ainda estou aprendendo a adaptar os scripts para receberem os recursos de tradução.
No teste que eu fiz, com a tradução pt-BR, o programa funcionou e neste monento o LiveUSB possui apenas um kernel instalado. A “image-4.9.0” foi removida com sucesso, ficando apenas o “headers-4.9.0” do antiX 21 full de 64 bits.

I have see other kernels remover, i think possible remove also Headers with better code, but I need more concentration to understand how.
I like Brazilian translation, now need Italian translation for me. 🙂

I like Brazilian translation, now need Italian translation for me.

I changed the file “old_linux_kernel_remover.po” in “pt-BR” to “it”, now you just need to replace the texts in “pt-BR” with your texts in “it”. Then you will need to create the “old_linux_kernel_remover.mo” file from the “old_linux_kernel_remover.po” file.

Use the command in the terminal to create the .mo file:

$ msgfmt old_linux_kernel_remover.po -o old_linux_kernel_remover.mo

Use the command in the terminal to copy the .mo file to the Italian translation folder:

$ sudo cp old_old_linux_kernel_remover.mo /usr/share/locale/it/LC_MESSAGES

Now run your program and check how your translation turned out. Every time you make changes to “old_linux_kernel_remover.po” you will need to create another “old_linux_kernel_remover.mo” and copy it to folder “/usr/share/locale/it/LC_MESSAGES” and rerun “old_linux_kernel_remover.sh”.

Vitforlinux, don’t be in a hurry to finish the program.
Test the program a lot, after everything is working, take care of the appearance of the program and how the texts are distributed in the graphical interface. When the aesthetic part is done, I help again with what I can do in the translation part. I’m laughing a lot, this joke turned out really good, even with the automatic translation. That is, I am not able to write in English and I use an automatic translation service to post texts that are not in my language. I always post my original text to ensure there is no misunderstanding. I can understand some words in Italian, but in English, it’s much more difficult, because an English word can have more than 30 different ways of being translated into pt-BR.

Eu estou rindo muito, esta piada ficou muito boa, mesmo com a tradução automática. Ou seja, eu não sou capaz de escrever em Inglês e utilizo um serviço de tradução automática para postar os textos que não estão em meu idioma. Eu sempre posto o meu texto original para garantir que não haja mal entendido. Eu sou capaz de perceber algumas palavras em italiano, mas em Inglês, é muito mais difícil, pois uma palavra em Inglês pode ter mais de 30 formas diferentes de ser traduzida para pt-BR.
O descanso também faz muito bem para quando você voltar a olhar para o código de programação o olhar ficar muito mais apurado, isso acontece comigo na tradução dos programas do antiX.

Hi, a comment: it happened to me once I did not want to remove a header to a specific kernel on Fedora (!) because new headers were not available yet.
Never seen this on Debian.
Just wanted to point out that auto-removal of headers allowing for deselecting those to be removed could be better.

I try to get a good result, my program only looks for the installed debs, the complicated part is to establish the relationship between the packages to be removed.

The simplest I can think of are ‘linux-<image|firmware|headers>-<whatever>’ where the relation is straightforward.
Consider e.g. the currently latest in the 4.19 series.

others="${kernel/linux-image-/linux-.*-}"; # Use '.*' because of NOT envoking regex-grep.
