rox displays icons on the desktop selectively

rox as the desktop icon handler doesn’t show icons except:
file-manager
antiX-docs

a screenshot from neighbouring thread:

but spacefm does show all of my icons

(I changed locale, but list of files in ~/Desktop has not been changed)

If you had read the FAQ, you would know SpaceFM shows icons stored in ~/Desktop and ROX stores the icons YOU add in a file somwhere in ~/.config/rox… (cant remember the name right now), ignoring the ~/Desktop folder. So if you want icons/links in ROX desktop, you need to add them yourself (by creating them, dragging them from a folder, etc).
