Good Day folks,
I don’t really sync directories, or use rsync, grsync, zsync and was wondering if these packages are system critical.
Can I uninstall these packages without breaking my OS?
Thank You,
fatboy
The command
apt-cache rdepend rsync
will tell you which packages rely on the rsync package. OOTB these packages depend on rsync:
antix-user
luckybackup
grsync
cli-installer-antix
It is also used by the persist-save program in the live system. I would not remove rsync unless you have a very compelling reason to do so. It’s a standard tool that developers may assume is available. There may be other packages using it that aren’t listed above.

Hey Bitjam,
Thank you for the feedback. I am no developer, so I doubt that I will ever use rsync. Anyway, I guess I will leave rsync installed for now. I have, however, uninstalled grsync, since I don’t use it.
I have checked out the packages listed in
sudo apt-cache rdepends rsync
The only packages I have that is critical is antix-user, so due to this, I can’t uninstall rsync
