On installation, should the default be to have runit services on or off (essential ones will always be on)?
On live boot, only these (essential) services are running:
connman
dbus
getty-tty1-6
seatd
slimski

For those like me and students needing cups or others wanting redshift
or maybe soon pipewire etc runit is easy to understand and setup.

Personal preference would be to keep the default services the same as the live image and potentially provide a single tool to enable, disabled and manage overall runit services (that would be an optional but useful feature to simplify management of runit services).
Just my opinion; I don’t need any extras myself; first time users may appreciate a simple tool or tool chest.

This is an excellent idea!
It would be really nice to be able to have a GUI listing all services and next to a button for each service, allowing the user to enable or disable the respective service at antiX runit startup, something similar to the “runit-service-manager” feature (I never I saw the look of this program that I translated to pt-BR), it seems that “runit-service-manager” is already translated in some languages in Transifex.– – – – –

Seria muito bom poder ter uma interface gráfica listando todos os serviços e ao lado um botão para cada serviço, permitindo ao usuário ativar ou desativar o respectivo serviço na inicialização do antiX runit, algo semelhante ao recurso “runit-service-manager” (eu nunca vi a aparência deste programa que eu traduzi para pt-BR), ao que parece o “runit-service-manager” já está traduzido em alguns idiomas no Transifex.

Yes …. and no…
Removing dbus will cause all sorts of issues since so many apps have it declared as a dependency.
Turning off dbus does not break firefox (or any other browser that depends on it) since firefox *forces* dbus to be active.
If you disable/rename/move all the dbus libs etc, firefox will still work, but it sends out error messages.There is a post somewhere in this forum about disabling dbus

It appears to me the listed services are the same list as currently in antiX-21 runit *elogind*-free. Is there any other difference planned in antiX-22 vs. antiX-21, except *elogind*-free will be default going forward?

Yes, anticapitalista. The ideal would be to have it in the menu and in the control center, as it should be in the SysVinit version that has “Choose Startup Services” in the menu and in the control center.

In the antiX Control Centre, Navigate to System, then Choose Startup Services. While I didn’t see them “Labelled” as runit, all of the services available are there, and they can be stopped, started, and managed from there.
Also, from the primary system menu (on my system it is on the task bar labelled antiX; this may vary, depending on which taskbar view is selected).
From there, select Applications —> System —> Choose Startup Services, or visit the Control Center from that menu; it’s there.Thank you anticapitalista for clarifying this again for us.

Correct. antiX-22 will not have many changes except it will default be elogind-free (runit and SysVinit versions).
