        Hello aB
Maybe a result of mixing different RAM types?
        Samsung 2x1g + Kingston 2x2g (same frequencies)
After expulsing the newcomers from Kingston, no more flickering.

        Yours sincerely, (you bugger)
        aB

          Hi AB,
I would try the Kingston RAM on its own, 4GB is good to have, plenty for
          swapping reduction with antiX.

To see what specs you can safely fit pls see your Mother board or device manual.
kingston is good quality so probably a timing issue.

Please, without offence, take in to consideration
Although the word bugger is considered mild swearing and often in plentiful usage
in uk or downunder, some forum users might know its real background and not appreciate
          its usage.

some forum users might know its real background

At least in Germany (including former GDR), Austria and probably also in Suisse „Bugger” is a respected profession (see e.g. Austrian profession information system: #324802 Bugger/Buggerin). This is a historically grown wording, describing a worker in shoe industry specialised on the process of „Buggen” of e.g. leather. At least me was completely unaware of a special meaning of this word in English languages. Would have used it without any concern, so many thanks for your warning. See Wikipedia-Auskunft (German language, you’ll need traduzir paginas web plugin by Felipe PS for easy reading) for some more reference. Just a curious question: What is the real (historic?) background of this word in English language?

Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

Exactly what I did, and it’ works fine.

And I will tell aB to stop treating aB badly. I promise.

              antiX rocks!

Try installing a compositor and then running it:

                    Example (install compton):
                    sudo apt install compton

                    Example (running compton):
                    compton

                    P.

                      That seems to work better!
scrolling is not super-smooth, but ok

Should I then add “compton” to .desktop-session/startup ?
                      (along with Thunderbird ?)

                      Thanks A LOT

Hello I did that, and it shows up in Htop.
But I still got the flickering, especially using LibreOffice. I don’t understand why yesterday no and today yes.
(I think I will take out 4G of the new ram and try.)

                          almost solved, sorry
