Antix19 base 32-bit as guest in the VirtualBox cannot remember the proper screen resolution.
I can apply the right one for my laptop but only for the session. When I boot It goes back to 1024 x 768 (native is 1400 x 1050) although have saved the setting. (I wonder anyway why is that setting in the ‘Session’ section of Control Centre ? )
Is there a way to fix it ?October 18, 2020 at 6:49 pm #43245Member

::If you resize the window, does the resolution change? Is Virtualbox client being loaded at boot?

::I can’t rezise the client window; but when I change the resolution in the client the window (of the guest system ) is rezised then. The window FOR the client from VirtualBox is always in fulscreen mode.
At the last boot it was even only a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels.
If I set the resolution to the monitors native the backgroud images repeat then (like tiled) in that size. And Conky moves then to the right side of the first ’tile’. But the windows and labels are all fine.
Is Virtualbox client being loaded at boot?
I am not sure how to understand this question (the shared folders working now).

::Update : the tile problem is not with the desktop ‘SpaceIceWM’ – which I am using in my host system for all the time 🙂
Before I think I had the Spacejwm, or … honestly I don’t remember, sorry. But for sure one which proveds SpaceFMThere is a file 1400×1050.sh in
/home/user/.screenlayout
which is obviously not loaded at system boot. When I click that with right button and execute it immediately I have the right resolution.
Can I put this somehow in Autostart ?And update: The desktop I had choosen last session (SpaceIceWM) is also not loaded. So the system boots always with some default settings.

::I use to experience a similar problem before. One solution was to add that file you are talking about to startup
Control Centre > Session > User Desktop Session will open the desktop-session files in geany.
Edit the startup file and add at the end:# Change screen resolution /home/user/.screenlayout 1400×1050.shIs Virtualbox client being loaded at boot?
I am not sure how to understand this question (the shared folders working now).
I had a problem in previous versions of Virtual box and had to add this line to the startup file:
VBoxClient &I would recommend you do the first solution (adding the script to change the resolution at startup), as it is more in line with what you want to achieve.

I don’t use VirtualBox (because there is QEMU), but I think you have to
apt-get update
apt-get install virtualbox-guest-x11- This reply was modified 2 years, 6 months ago by Dzhigit. Reason: Fix BBCode [code] tags

Thanks, the screen resolution is changing right after boot.
I did both as without VBoxClient & the system couldn’t remember some settings f.e. in Geany.I also added
/usr/bin/VBoxClient --clipboard
to the startup file in order to exchange copy paste between the systems. Now only the guest system can’t remember the Desktop, it starts always with a tiled background.
But thats easy to change by switching to Space-icewm, not realy a problem.- This reply was modified 2 years, 6 months ago by rolfarius.
