Hiyall,
You can see in my signature that I am running antiX in a VB. When I boot up I get the screen looking like (attached PRIMARY SCREEN).
I can then go to menu>desktop>other desktops>click on Ice-WM and it changes to fill the screen (attached CORRECT SCREEN).
Surely there is a more elegant way of making the correct screen start at boot up.Attachments:

::Hi, I get this as well on antiX-21 stable in fluxbox.
It seems that the desktop is set, including loading of conky, and *then* VirtualBox resizes the screen too late for poor conky and wallpaper to catch-up (since they were already drawn).
If I am too bothered by that, I usually call
pkill conky; conky 2>/dev/null &
from the terminal so that at least position of ‘conky’ is fixed.Perhaps, this could be solved by adding an appropriate ‘sleep’ command to the ‘startup’ script (typically in the folder ‘~/.desktop-session/’) to account for the need to redraw by sufficiently delaying the drawing.
But it is a rather clumsy workaround because the amount of time needed in the command sleep may vary depending on the resources used by/available to the VirtualBox running in the host.- This reply was modified 10 months ago by sybok. Reason: clarified/reword at the of the sleep suggestion

::I found an alternative way. When I shut down the VB it gives me 3 alternatives. I choose the first one: “Save the machine state.” I don’t know how elegant it is but it works.

::Saving the state might be potentially dangerous; I believe that there was a VirtualBox update in the past that broke machines in a saved state.

::In the light of Sybok’s comment I would like to request someone put something in place that allows the modified screen to boot directly at startup. I have no computer programming skills.

::Open ARandR from the Preferences menu.
Set your desired resolution from arandr in the Outputs menu.
Confirm your setting by clicking on the ok-hook of the arandr window.
Save this setting to i.e. ~/.screenlayout/1360×768.sh
Open 1360×768.sh with geany
Open ~/.dektop-session/startup with geany
Copy the complete command-line ‘xrandr …’ of 1360×768.sh and
paste it into ~/.dektop-session/startup in the line below autoscale-antix
Comment off the line ‘autoscale-antix’ with a # in front of it.
Save startup and close geany.
Log out and log in again.
Now antix should start in VirtualBox with your desired resolution. But retrieve the original setting before you use iso-snapshot.

::What OS is running Virtualbox?
Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
