      Currently I have a dual boot setup on my Linux machine. I am ashamed to say I use the windows snip it app whenever I want to copy and paste screenshots from one application into Discord chat. So far in Antix I am a big noob, so could someone please tell me how I can use the screenshot app to copy an image to clipboard then paste it into discord. I then can uninstall windows.

        Does discord allow you to send an image as an attachment?
        If your answer is yes, then tell us which antiX you are using and what is your desktop (window manager + file manager).
        We have no way of guessing which antiX you are using and which is your desktop.

          Can you just take a screenshot & select the image as a whole (as in this forum) to paste? (I don’t use discord.)

            You could use scrot -s and xclip in combination to do this. I used to have this on key combination but not anymore…. Where pressing printscreen would bring up the scrot -s selector and save it to the clipboard with xclip. Then shift printscreen would use xclip to paste it. It should still work that way but there are also other tools. I think xfce45-screenshooter also has a save to clipboard option

              On some antiX desktops the Print Screen key does not work to capture the screen.

              Em algumas áreas de trabalho do antiX a tecla Print Screen não funciona para capturar a tela.

                Sorry about the late reply. I managed to save a image and upload it. I did some testing with deepin screenshot but the clipboard won’t paste into discord web-browser. Im going to install discord from appimage later and see if that works.

                    IceWM is pretty flexible in that if Dave’s solution works, you could change the keyboard assignment to run those programs for you when you press a certain combination of keys. For example, Alt+Ctrl+s could be assigned to do it for you.

                    Another possibility would be to add that feature as an option on the enhanced version of the antiX screenshot program I worked on a while back. That would give you the same abilities as one of the more advanced snip utilities as well.

                      Taking Dave’s idea a step farther, I reprogrammed my IceWM Ctrl+PrtScr key to take a full screen screenshot and copy it to the clipboard, and then popup a dialog to tell me it was done. I was able to paste this directly into the Yahoo email screen, but please note that this forum doesn’t allow you to paste the pic directly into a post. I also reprogrammed Alt+PrtScr to take the screenshot of the window in focus, and Ctrl+Alt+PrtScr to let you select the screenshot area with your cursor.

                      To do this we need to add a few lines to the ~/.icewm/keys file via the antiX Control Centre>>Desktop tab>>IceWM Settings button>>keys tab, then restart IceWM from the Logout menu

                      # After this code:
                      ###Added the antixscreenshot on the Print key (same as MX)
                      key "Print" antixscreenshot.sh

                      # Add this code:
                      # Take a screenshot a screenshot, the copy it to the clipboard and notify
                      key "Ctrl+Print" /bin/sh -c "scrot -e 'xclip -selection clipboard -t image/png -i $f' && yad --center --button=gtk-ok:0 --text='\n  Screenshot has been copied to clipboard  ' --text-align=center --timeout=3"
                      # Take a screenshot of active window, the copy it to the clipboard and notify
                      key "Alt+Print" /bin/sh -c "scrot -u -e 'xclip -selection clipboard -t image/png -i $f' && yad --center --button=gtk-ok:0 --text='\n  Screenshot of active window has been copied to clipboard  ' --text-align=center --timeout=3"
                      # Select a window area with cursor and take a screenshot, the copy it to the clipboard and notify
                      key "Ctrl+Alt+Print" /bin/sh -c "scrot -s -e 'xclip -selection clipboard -t image/png -i $f' && yad --center --button=gtk-ok:0 --text='\n  Screenshot of selected area has been copied to clipboard  ' --text-align=center --timeout=3"

                        I had worked on enhancing antiX standard screenshot program to add a list of bells and whistles about a year ago. I’ve since trimmed it down to options that I use, and today I added a “Save and Copy to Clipboard” option, which can be pasted into Yahoo and AOL email, as well as LibreOffice Writer, and hopefully other programs as well. Give it a try on Discord and let me know if it works there, too.

                        PS: If antiX 21 base or full is installed that should meet the requiremments. MTPaint 3.50.07 or higher is needed.

                          circle the wagons twice for two screenshots lets firefox handle talk to the clipboard.
                          This script saving file plus some clicking buys firefox Copy to clipboard.
                          Handle Copy of your screenshot selection using firefox Take Screenshot selection.
                          Execute this

                          #! /bin/bash
                          scrot -s -d 2 -q 80 -e 'firefox-esr $f'

                          #right-click firefox window; menu click >Take Screenshot,
                          #click on image, click on Copy.

                          Roundabout

                          A twist on select and copy of an image handler.
                          The Copy button in firefox screenshot after selection.

                            I’ll have to give it a try. I figured it would just open a new window instead of pasteing it in.

                              Your working with xclip is more direct.
                              i highlighted a single image handler, using firefox-esr feature.

                                @ile according to mozilla tech docs the screenshot can be used remotely. The point I guess to facilitate agencys interested in removing last remaining vistiges of privacy. It can almost certainly be used by rogue sites if java is on. Only way I know to block is no script or delete the hidden extension. How in Browser threads.

                                BobC thanks will give the tool a try and pass it around as far as possible.

                                  This appears to be challenging task for default setting. I have tried quite a few methods and it appears to me the easiest and most capable tool for this is Flameshot.
                                  No workarounds, just taking snapshot and saving to clipboard or file. Clipboard content can be pasted to anything as expected.
                                  This tool seems also perfect match for antiX as it requires just one dependency lib.
                                  Just an idea…
