      Seagate now offers firmware updates for many Harddisks and considers the update proceedure
      normal. Updates to new or still in warranty devices do not affect your consumer rights according
      to information on the seagate website..

      Updates are available for many older drives such as my anchient Barracuda 1 TB model.

      Change language to en en or whatever you need. In my case the site is detecting language de.

      The updating can be done using a freedos ISO including tool available for download on the seagate site,
      nice not to need windoze for the proceedure.
