I tried this out after reading about it on another post or the Antix web site, I cannot remember but this is the coolest thing I have ever seen. How amazing is this search feature, just highlight the text in the terminal and click the search bar. No copying onto clip board nor into the address bar and changing bulky windows, just highlight and click.
With the resources as well: google, duck duck, wiki, and of course Antix and Mx.
I don’t know if this is available on other distro’s such as Mint or just an Antix app? But it is a very good tool for a newbie linux terminal person like me.
      Wow.

Thanks for sharing this! Very interesting tool, indeed. And it actually also works for selection from perhaps any app, not just in terminal.

Interestingly, I did not know this app before, either, because I did not stumble upon the web pages you mentioned (com’on, how likely would that happen). I did, though, open it once before, when I was in my day 1 on AntiX and was exploring by clicking every menu item (which has a much higher exposure comparing to a separated web page at somewhere else). But, honestly, the SearchBar UI does this app a disservice. From the UI, you can not know how it works. I was like, “Just a list of bookmarks to different search engines? Why is it better than real bookmarks inside my browser?” and then I closed it. In hindsight, the genius whoever created this Search Bar, should have include at least a one-liner description, either visible in the UI, or inside its “Help” menu item, or as a hovering tooltip, etc..

Hey Rayluo, there is a lot that is hidden and to be discovered; and we all need a little help to find it.

You are probably right about other text than the Terminal. I tried with other files, maybe another web page I cannot remember but not everything worked. Sometimes the highlighted text I had would disappear when I tried to click the Search Bar. Regardless, yeah I thought it was really cool and the references are pretty much those I will use when I need to find something out. Especially with commands.

I pretty much tried almost every icon in the menus to see what worked and what did not. A lot I have no clue what they do or did nothing. Another cool one I stumbled upon was Droopy, as well as the explanation on the Dillo Antix web site which was very good. I spent the afternoon shooting off pictures and files from phone to computer 1 to laptop 2 etc. had fun with that. I don’t know about the security of it but really neat too.

PS. I am a total newbie to Linux and any sort of computing aside from browsing and office.
