Set System Keymap not holding

I have set the system keymap from UK to German. It held (or I think it did) until I set Synaptics options for natural scrolling. Now they keymap does not hold across reboots regardless of saving to persistence.

Is keymap grounded from persistence? How do I set up a different keymap from the language locale?

I have UEFI only
So I can’t (don’t know how to) set the live boot menu to kbd=de,uk and F8 to save. The custom boot does not allow (don’t know) for this mixed parameter.

EDIT: editing sudo nano /etc/default/keyboard to the relevant setting does not hold either despite being in root persistence mode …

You can set the keymap when installing,

or later in the Control Center > Desktop > System > Set System Keymap
This has worked for me.

Exactly what does not hold in persistence mode.

Not in UEFI mode, keymap is linked to language and locale exclusively. Select EN and you get QWERTY only. Select UK and you get QWERTY only. There is no line for cheats, and the menus don’t have an option to set a different keymap.

How about using Control Center > Session > Change Keyboard Layout for Session

Unfortunately, we use gfxboot and syslinux on the live iso, which does not allow us to use F keys in UEFI mode.
We tried to find a ‘fix’ this in the past without success.

In UEFI mode there is a sucession of options. These optoins include language and time zone, but not keyboard. Perhaps a future version can include a keyboard menu, which then can be made a persistent choice across reboots?
As of now, there is no way I can get the keyboard map to stock without editing the squashfs manually … which defeats the purpose of using antix.

Maybe try running a script to change the keyboard layout on starting up(?).
