      Hi!

      I like to have three virtual desktops or work-spaces in any given DE I’m using.

      But just for consistency’s sake, I also like to have the same names for each in all the DE’s antiX uses.

      So, I changed the three works spaces names to “alpha”, “beta” and “gamma”, from the Fluxbox model. I dropped the “workspace” bit, though.

      Changing all three workspace names in Fluxbox and Ice-WM was pretty easy. But I couldn’t find a JWM example to work with.

      So by trial and error (which really means lots and lots of errors) I figured it out. So, here’s the appropriate excerpt from of my own ~./jwm/preferences file:

      <!-- Virtual Desktops -->
      <Desktops height="1" width="3">
         <Desktop name="alpha"></Desktop> <!-- desktop #1 -->
         <Desktop name="beta"></Desktop> <!-- desktop #2 -->
         <Desktop name="gamma"></Desktop> <!-- desktop #3 -->
      </Desktops>

      As you can see, each named desktop needs to have <Desktop name=”name”></Desktop> for each desktop name. In the appropriate order, of course.

      Remember to put the desktop’s name in quotes. Otherwise, you’ll get the most of the preferences file showing as the name for the first desktop, and just a simple set of numbers for the rest.

      Not too sure how many people really, really, really need this. But I just thought I’d put that out there in case anyone else is as fussy about desktop names as I am.
