I tried to install slimjet via Package Installer but, because a weak wifi connection, the downloading hasn’t been completed succesfully. There’s a slimjet_i386.deb file in my home folder, but its hash seems to be wrong.

Then I tried via Synaptic, but slimjet appeared there as already installed, and there was not a “mark for reinstallation” option. I removed it, but when I tried to install it again:

Could not mark all packages for installation or upgrade

The following packages have unresolvable dependencies. Make sure that all required repositories are added and enabled in the preferences.

      slimjet:

Package slimjet has no available version, but exists in the database.
This typically means that the package was mentioned in a dependency and never uploaded, has been obsoleted or is not available with the contents of sources.list

I also tried via the terminal:

      $ sudo apt-get install slimjet
      Reading package lists... Done
      Building dependency tree
      Reading state information... Done
Package slimjet is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'slimjet' has no installation candidate

I installed slimjet with the package-installer.fonts-liberation gets installed afterwards as depency.
            So I asked for.
            Try
            sudo dpkg --configure -a

If fonts-liberation isnt installed, maybe installing it helps.

You ca also try to remove it again
            sudo apt-get remove --purge slimjet

Try to install it with the package-installer.

It seemed to have been installed without errors, but I find it nowhere.

In antix-control-center under preferred application, can you choose it there?
                    Or under /usr/share/applications is there slimjet.desktop ?
                    Terminal-command

I left a lot of browsers on the List on my IBM T23 install. Because of sse2 cpu requirements. Look for any browser install probably in /opt.
                      1st command requires sudo.

                      updatedb

                      This does not require sudo

                      locate slimjet

One thing I noticed while I was experimenting. When deleting package installer browsers files in /opt. This would break apt. I would have to go back to package installer. Re-install what I deleted in /opt. Then re-open package installer. Run the un-install button instead.

Deleting files manually screwed the pooch for awhile till I figured out the problem.

Well, today I woke up, opened this discussion, ran command flashpeak-slimjet (yesterday I tried the wrong command “slimjet”) and slimjet browser is running. After that, I looked in menu and slimjet is there. I don’t know if reboot was necessary and I also don’t remember if yesterday I tried to reboot. I only remember I tried “Update Menu”.

I suppose the command I used to install slimjet via terminal was wrong, too. But:

                        $ sudo apt-get install flashpeak-slimjet
                        Reading package lists... Done
                        Building dependency tree
                        Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package flashpeak-slimjet

Anyway, slimjet is installed. But I don’t know if I should mark this topic as solved, because I couldn’t do it via Synaptic or terminal.

It*s not in the debian-repos,you cant install it with synaptic and when you deinstalled it with synaptik maybe something went wrong besides the install was not complete. But nice you got it running now, seems to be fast.

Good luck helped this time and the downloading was not corrupted again because of the weak wifi connection. For this reason I prefer synaptic; whatever is downloaded is never lost.

It looks quite fast, but I can’t say yet if it’s faster than Pale Moon.

My omission that I haven’t thanked you for your help.
