Hi all.
How do I make it so that users cant press the “F1” j=key at login menu/login page and change the session type e.g. between rox-jwm zzz-jwm -minimal-jwm & jwm?
Just want it to be plain JWM desktop only. Thanks

::as root, edit the file /etc/slimski.local.conf
and UNcomment the line which begins with
#sessiontypesrevise the the line to state which limited sessiontype(s) you wish to be available, e.g.
sessiontypes min-jwm,rox-jwm,zzz-jwm
To suit your case, the line would state only one sessiontype
sessiontypes min-jwmAfter edit/saving the file, the change should take effect upon next logout/login.

::Just wondered, if I wanted to hide the Sessiontype:jwm on the login page, which is the best way without corrupting the file?
Appreciated

::Unsure what means “corrupting the file”.
Simply create a backup copy of whichever file(s) you intend to edit so that you can undo if necessary.By omitting the F1_msg text string from the theme file, you can suppress it from being displayed.
To “hide” the label of the currently selected sessiontype, good luck with that ~~ you might experiment by specifying offscreen (greater than 100%) for F1_x and for F1_yI have lost track of which theme file is specified as the as-shipped default theme file for anti 21.
I expect It would be one of the following:
(and is specified within /etc/slimski.local.conf)
/usr/share/slimski/themes/default/slimski.theme
/usr/share/slimski/themes/ax/slimski.theme
/usr/share/slimski/themes/antiX/slimski.theme# F1 message F1_font Verdana:size=12 F1_color #666666 F1_x 46% F1_y 90% F1_msg ( Press F1 to change sessiontype )try changing the above to —–v
# F1 message F1_font Verdana:size=12 F1_color #666666 F1_x 0% F1_y 0% #F1_msg ( Press F1 to change sessiontype )For F1_x and F1_y values, you may need to specify a value of 100% instead of zero
(string will still be displayed, but at offscreen coordinates, so will remain unseen)Bear in mind that when a non-English locale is in effect, the strings within slimski.theme
aver overridden by the strings of same-named variables within the relevant localization file
/usr/share/slimski/themes/ax/ fr_FR, hr_HR, it_IT (et cetera)
so, if your users are not using english locale, you may want/need to edit those instead of the slimski.theme fileJanuary 7, 2022 at 11:23 am #74765Memberolsztyn
::By omitting the F1_* text strings from the theme file, you can suppress them from being displayed.
My playing with these options resulted with still not optimal result. My theme is ‘default’ not antiX:
– Commenting out F1_msg with # alone did absolutely nothing – this message still displays
– In addition, changing F1_x and F1_y to 0 resulted in remnants of the string displayed on top left of the screen. Changing them to 100% caused the F1_msg text to be displayed on bottom right of the screen, just truncated.
So far I have not found a clean solution per the above changing coordinates to 0% ot to 100%, but made F1_msg not displayed by just blanking out F1_msg, just as suggested by skidoo in the quoted statement.
This is for ‘default’ theme I am using, not the ‘antiX’ theme, which is default with antiX 21 runit.- This reply was modified 1 year, 4 months ago by olsztyn.

::revise the the line to state which limited sessiontype(s) you wish to be available
Just to add from another angle: Limiting sessiontypes allowed on that line will not prevent the user from selecting from Desktop->Other Desktops a session different than JWM.
I am using just JWM anf DWM, so the selection of desktops needed to be reduced to just these as well.Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

::So far I have not found a clean solution per the above changing coordinates to 0% ot to 100%
Upon rechecking the code ( ref: https://gitlab.com/antiX-Linux/slimski-antix/-/blob/main/cfg.cpp#L453 ) seems like F1_x and F1_y do accept integer values as well as percentages.
Try the following, configure negative integer values (and post back to report the result)F1_x -4000 F1_y -4000January 7, 2022 at 7:17 pm #74793Memberolsztyn
::Try the following, configure negative integer values (and post back to report the result)
Yes… These integer settings do work… Clean screen – no remnants of F1 message, no artifacts…
The same result as just blanking out F1_msg, without any change to coordinates x or y…
Thank You…- This reply was modified 1 year, 4 months ago by olsztyn.
