I came across this reddit thread which listed small(?) window managers. I thought, you might enjoy it.
If you have experience using the non-traditional antiX ‘models’, what do you think of them?

would have difficultywould find it impossible to memorize dozens of keybinds. Yeah, eventual muscle memory… but my patience would wear thin before I got there.June 5, 2019 at 9:28 am #22568Member

::I notice that FLWM (Fast Light WM), isn’t mentioned, it uses FLTK, (Fast Light Tool Kit), & is used by Tiny Core Linux, it’s a very neat solution.

::To me, what is really important is that the window manager default windows onto the screen reasonably, and be controllable there, and when they are on the screen, at least be able to move and/or resize them into any of 9 positions/sizes based on the numeric keypad rose.
I know I can get IceWM to do that using WinArrange and WinGrid combined. Can any of the others do that?

::man fluxbox-keys
and press forward slash key to initiate a search: ArrangeWindowsIn my forked version of fluxbox (can read additional details in the forum archives) antixlinux.com/forum-archive/fluxbox-v1-3-8-t6964.html
I attempted to raise awareness of this functionality by placing some “Arrange” commands in the as-shipped fluxbox menujog your memory:
we had discussed this back when you wanted to create a script for toggling a “cascade” arrangement…

::Hello Manyroads and Everyone
hello skidoo. great list in that link. Did you have a favorite there? twm is workable but leaves me wanting one of today’s with the more ease. great thing about the “2003 Review” is the XFCE v.4.0 notes say it is “Huge. …with all its accessories weighs in at about 14 Mb in memory, more than twice the memory use of any other window manager I tried.” Ratpoison and EvilWM 500kb.June 11, 2019 at 1:47 pm #22791Memberolsztyn
::Thanks for sharing the comparison article. There is a Wikipedia comparison, which has different RAM requirements:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_X_window_managers#cite_note-1At first PSS methodology against RSS (and USS) sounds right but upon reflection influenced by experience I think the author of the article too quickly adopted an argument against RSS for the benefit of PSS, favoring pure theory over reality. In all practicality it is RSS that should be used for comparison IMHO.
Argumentation that it is unfair to include memory requirements of libraries needed to run a WM, just because they could be shared with other programs is not fair in my eyes. Such comparison of WMs should be on their own merits and their own memory demand, not counting on other programs to run and absolve WM’s huge memory requirement.
Another paradox from Wikipedia (link above):
– KDE – 41 MB
– XFCE – 70 MB
– Fluxbox – 16 MB
– awesome – 9 MBLive antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

::Since not too long I’m using sway wm (a reimplementation of i3 wm to work with Wayland). And I noticed that it RAM usage which I measure with ps_mem varies depending on how much I have available. Sway starts with about about 40 MB. When I hit the RAM limit when building Firefox for example sway’s RAM usage decreases a few MB, the usage of Xwayland as well which is interesting.

::I was just going to ask about swaywm. Search didn’t find this thread. 🙁 @eugen-b and @Koo would you mind starting a thread on sway and your experiences?
