      Hi all. I’m making this thread because SMTube is not working for me. This tends to happen a lot because YouTube is so finnicky, but usually the function to update the YouTube code fixes it. However now this is not the case, and I get the “It wasn’t possible to find the URL for this video” error when I try to open any videos. I’ve seen this SMPlayer support thread about the topic but it’s a little bit over my head. Any ideas?

          New smtube now in repos. Let us know if it does fix the issue. It does on my box.

            Uh, anti seems like something isn’t right on my end. I just did sudo apt update followed by sudo apt dist-upgrade and it did not update smtube. When I open the program it still says I’m using the 15.5.10 version which I was using when I made this thread. Having the exact same problem. I’m running Antix 17 w/Stretch repositories.

              I hope you meant sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, just checked my smtube, it is working flawlessly.

              cheers,

                @ohh both sudo apt update and sudo apt-get update accomplish the same thing. It’s been like that since around 2016 if I recall correctly. I usually use sudo apt update because it takes less time (obvi).

                  ok I’ve just upgraded now to 18.3.0 and smtube still gives me the “URL Not found” error no matter which player I use or video I choose.

                      @Sadshark

                      Well always good to learn a new trick, but if time is of the essence then do what is the quickest:

                      alias agu="apt-get update"
                      alias agd="apt-get dist-upgrade"
                      alias agc="apt-get clean"
                      alias ag="apt-get update;apt-get dist-upgrade"

                      (obvii)

                      cheers,

                        Okay I’ve reinstalled smtube and my video players and this is the type of error I get when I try to open youtube vids with VLC:

                          When I try opening smtube videos with SMplayer it tells me “URL of video not found.”

                          edit: okay here’s the scoop since I don’t want to make too many posts at once. VLC and SMPlayer, which are my primary video programs, do not work with smtube. No matter what I do I get the same errors I’ve detailed in this thread.

                          BUT

                          For some reason, with the mpv program, which I forgot was a thing, smtube actually works fine. Very bizarre happenings!
