Installed antix21 over an antix16 and lost sound. It turns out that in the home directory there was an old file
.alsaequal.bin
which was created by antix16 which caused an error with the new version of alsa in antix21. Removing this old file fixed the problem, and it was regenerated by antix21 the next time the mixer was used.
