Good Day Folks,
I have installed Antix 21 the Base iso, tweaked it quite a bit and am having issues with sound now. When I open the Antix Control Center, my “Test Sound” Button don’t work, even though the sound card is detected and I have sound with PaleMoon, mpv and cmus.I did however had to tweaks cmus that the sound output was set to “ao”
My main issue now is with FreeTube which is without sound, even if I start it with “apulse FreeTube”. I am not at my PC now, but I suspect Firefox is also without sound, but will confirm tonight.
TL;DR I suspect that all apps that prefer pulseaudio have no sound.
Anyone else here also having sound issues? What packages should I have installed, because maybe I uninstalled something I shouldn’t have?
I think I should look into the antixcc.sh script to see what program is needed for the audio tester?
Also, where can I find a text file containing all files included in the Antix 21 Base iso?November 18, 2021 at 8:24 am #71121MemberModdIt
::Hi, I go a roundabout way with the kind of issue you have,
remove the alsa config files in home, try again, .asound.conf and .asoundrc.
If not helping then
boot a live full version test sound works where I want it to.
Using synaptic compare packages incl libraries. Install what I think is needed
starting by installing/reinstalling the main alsa packages then add until things work.Or as I did on a rainy day, slim down full version rather than build on base which
needs way more expertise.November 18, 2021 at 9:55 am #71124Anonymous
::Hi Moddit,
Thank you for the response. I will do that tonight and get back to you. Very keen to get this sorted.November 18, 2021 at 3:04 pm #71140MemberModdIt
::Regarding list of packages in base, I do not know but you can do
sudo apt list –installed
The list is long so you can pipe it a bit
sudo apt list –installed | less
sudo apt list –installed | moreNovember 18, 2021 at 3:59 pm #71141Anonymous
::Hey Moddit,
I realised that I ran deborphan a while back, and I think I nuked a library needed for everything to work, because I was testing aplay and got error messages about devices not existing and it also mentioned pcm modules?
Here are some of the log files in ~/tmp
Entering playback thread (ALSA). Cannot open PCM playback device: No such device or address(-6) Exit playback thread fail: -6 Entering capture thread (ALSA). Cannot open PCM capture device: No such device or address(-6) alsabat -c1 --saveplay default_mono.wav`
Anyway, I took the easy way out and installed pipewire using this turorial
