Greetings and salutations… I’m having the same issue and I haven’t managed to find a fix yet. VLC ironically shows far more audio output options than anything else, but none of them work – I went through all the ones labeled ‘HDMI’ (and the others as well, just in case) and none of them produced any sound. Sound card chooser only shows one option, etc etc. I tried .asoundrc, I tried Xecure’s script – nothing seems to work. The hardware is good, as audio over HDMI would play just fine in Windows.

        Have you tried another kernel?
A last resort would be to install pulseaudio and pavucontrol.
You have to start the daemon afterwards with
        pulseaudio -D &

Immediately after that post, I installed pulseaudio and rebooted and now it works flawlessly lmao.

My solution to connect HMDI output on a multiple-device card pc by configuring Alsa.

            1. Connect HDMI output.
            2. Open AlsaMixer, select S/PDIF item using keyboard’s right key, and press M key to unmute it.
            3. Test the device sound output, and set it to default, using Xecure’s script, or other method.
            4. Restart the session.
            5. Right click on taskbar’s volume icon, select properties, change Alsa channel to Pre-Amp, and close.

To revert this process, set the previous device to default, restart session, and change Alsa channel volume control to Master.

@gilvan: by any chance do you mean HDMI?

IF there is an HMDI, I am not familiar with what it is or what it does.

OK, wait, it might just be a typo. I thought you wrote it twice but one says HDMI and the other says HMDI.

If you can’t correct it I can edit it for you.
