      Hi I’ve got a strange sound issue which only affects playing tracks on soundcloud using Firefox-esr and the default Alsamixer. The issue is when you click to play a song, the track timeline moves as normal but there is no sound through the speakers or headphones. I have no issues with sound playback on youtube, bandcamp, mixcloud etc

      My laptop specs are

      Compaq Presario CQ57
      AMD E-450 1.65 GHz Dual Core Processor With Integrated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6320M
      8GB Crucial DDR3 PC3-12800 SODIMM Ram (2x 4GB Sticks)
      Kingston KC600 256GB SSD

      Sound card is listed as the following:

      SC: HDA-Intel-HDA ATI SB
      Chip: Realtek ALC270

      I even loaded my USB live installer of antiX 19.3 to test it wasn’t something I’ve done or an issue with installing but it also did the same. I’ve updated the system to the latest updates but it still not playing sound on soundcloud. Any ideas what could be causing this issue?

        Hi.

        Try installing proprietary codecs
        Control Centre > Drivers > Codecs Installer

        EDIT: this doesn’t help. There is some problem with firefox-esr and soundcloud.
        If you install the newest firefox version
        sudo apt install firefox
        and run it with apulse
        apulse firefox
        Sound works with soundcloud.
        I will explore some bug reports like https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1624110

        EDIT2: Found a workaround
        in a new tab of firefox-esr, go to
        about:config
        search for this option and make it false:
        dom.webaudio.enabled
        Close the browser and re-launch it. Try soundcloud again.

          This worked like a charm I now have sound on soundcloud 🙂 I’ve updated the thread title as solved.
