Years ago, most of the long time residents of nearby Travelers Rest could see the mountain peaks
from their homes. While that’s still true to some degree, like many desirable places, homes and
businesses obstruct some of the “best views” that people enjoyed, so not everyone is excited
                        about “economic progress” and “growth”.

From my perspective, this area is nowhere near as congested as the areas where I grew up.
In the area I left only a couple of years ago, any “open” area gets snapped up every time
the economy can tolerate building and growth, and elimination of open space is paused
only by economic downturns. We’re not anywhere near that extreme here, not yet anyway; we
have plenty of wooded areas right in view of our senior community.

Moved quite a few reports here and deleted many others; remaining weather information is mostly either integrated with inxi/pinxi or describing one of the scripts. I’d rather keep weather information here going forward, and the “Canadian Wildfires, smoke and weather concerns” topic to discuss anything about the forest fire smoke and confine the “What are you “here” with today?” topic to things about our system, since it’s still by far the largest thread in the entire forum.

I added a script and a Web browser link to quickly produce a one line icon and temperature for Greenville, South Carolina

                                  The script contains
                                  curl wttr.in/Greenville?format=3

The Web browser link points to Wttr.in Greenville Weather
