Feel free to use whatever resource you prefer. I will do the same. I was looking at some old browser bookmarks and I have indeed altered many bookmarks for my Internet browsers, including the weather sites I visit. Also the reasons I have a weather topic and a more general “What are you here with topic” allow me to compare system information and weather patterns. You’d be surprised how some things change and other patterns, while not identical, tend to repeat themselves in software and in weather.
This week I noticed a couple of strange things. For example the weather in at least one far northern location was almost ten degrees warmer than weather over 400 miles south and a few places in the far north were as warm as locations in the deep south.
In one case a particular place in the south was as uncharacteristically chilly as it was extremely warm less than two months ago. These are typically moisture and wind based odd things but by observing them it provides cases of weather change. Still those who think that only air or water pollution are responsible, geology and weather comparisons show that climate oddity has happened as long as recorded history and geology suggests that some of the changes are historically noted.

::… as far as software changes, every few years, some new technology or new product boasts that it’s going to solve this or that. A few years later, something ELSE makes the same promises. Some of the changes do have value, but the truth of the promises made or the marketing hype is much more questionable.
The software we have here is like getting a new, fresh breath of air!

Yes, and exactly this was why I made fun of the boom everything right now must have AI in it. Btw, you couldn’t even use this graphcast thing by now, it’s still a research project only. I was just kidding 🙂
Btw, the wunderground site you’ve linked to provides way more detailed information than our local services here, with less script overhead, not forcing to click and click and click pulldowns open to finally see the data you are looking for. Everything important at first look on one single page. Great. Have bookmarked it for future usage. Many thanks!
Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

::Sometimes it is difficult to tell when a comment is serious or not. Even if a smile or some other hint is included, unless every message is read with great care, taking into account the personality of the person, their background, etc., it’s very easy to miss the intent, which I clearly did in this case.
Naturally no harm and no problem here, but that’s not always the case. We’ve seen many threads that we’ve had to either close or delete because one or two words caused other people to respond in unexpected and unpleasant ways. Of course that is NOT the case here, but it is a reminder for all of us to be careful what we say.
Those who really know me realize that I am usually a gentle, helpful soul; you strike me as a helpful person too.
Anyway the multi cultural, multi lingual nature of our forum, even with language translation software still doesn’t account for slang that means one thing in a particular region and makes zero sense to someone else. That’s why, though I fail many times I still do my best to make contributions, except for my primarily personal topics, to avoid words that are likely to be misunderstood.
On my personal topics other people are welcome to share in them but as the initiator of the thread and a moderator of the forum I can decide if anything is inappropriate. I don’t think I have had to censor any topics I have authored but I have had to cut off and even remove a few over the past couple of years.
After quite a while where that hasn’t been necessary, anticapitalista recently had to intervene on a topic while I was away on vacation because the conversation veered from the original intent until inappropriate words were exchanged; that’s exactly what we’ve had to moderate and administer much than anything we imagined when the forum and the distribution was in its infancy. So that’s why words make quite a difference. A few times I have retracted what I wrote because of an unexpected response, hence this extended dialogue in the midst of our neutral conversation.

::I think THESE guys don’t have their weather instrument mounted in an optimal location; today theirs is recording temperatures at LEAST 3 degrees higher than the other three stations that are in the so-called Mountain Shadows Station region of nearby Paris Mountain.

Either that or these guys are having a “roast” a bit too close to their instrumentation!--
