I want to add the text ‘spectre_v2=retpoline,generic’ to the kernel boot command. Where can I find this command please?
To add a boot-parameter you have to change the “GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT” in
/etc/default/grub
Example , mine looks like that
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”vga=791 quiet 2″
If I wanted to add your code , it would have to be changed to
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”vga=791 quiet 2 spectre_v2=retpoline,generic”
You can also first try a boot-parameter by pressing the letter e on boot-screen, from there go (with up and down, left right arrows) to the line that starts with linux.
Add your boot-parameter to that line and then press F10 or F11(can’t remember)
The PC will now boot for one time with the command for trying it out.
Thanks for showing me how to include this parameter, sadly it has had no effect, the ‘LFENCE not serialising’ error is still there although it seems to have no effect on the way antiX works on this pc. Have you any further suggestions? I attach the pc specifications, and a copy of / etc / default / grub. I am running release 17.4.1 x64 and it is kept right up to date.
