This is what I use to save my screen resolution.

Open terminal and copy and paste this command.

      sudo make-xorg-conf 1024×768 -o /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Where I have 1024×768 enter your desired screen resolution and close terminal and restart your computer and your screen resolution should be what you entered.

That is the way I did it for earlier versions of antix.

I guess it’s just me as it used to be very easy to set screen resolution using sudo make-xorg-conf 1024×768 -o /etc/X11/xorg.conf and and now all of the sudden this no long works.

I’ve tried all of the commands and followed the exact way in post #2692 which for me doesn’t seem to work so I give up.

Why make what should be a simple task so difficult?

May give it another try later on although at this time I’m giving up.

Please remove my post #3390 as this no longer seems to work.

Before removing, let’s consider that future searchers may benefit from reading your side-by-side tip, plus caveat.

Instead of removing, can split post #2 into a new help request topic.

I’m interested in at least hearing more about “now all of the sudden” remark. Same hardware? No change of video driver?
If an update to some installed package triggered the change in behavior, would be beneficial to track down which package, eh?

BTW, your eye-catching bolded post #nnnn callouts inspire a new tip:

“how to create a link to an exact antixforum.com post”

            a
While drafting a post, you can embed an exact link by clicking the “link” button and pasting from clipboard into popup

No clue as to what you are saying as this is a new install on a different computer and not the one in my signature.

The computer in my signature works fine and not the one with the resolution problem.

Poorguy, I tried your command. On one installation it works and on the other not.
But anyway, nowadays its not nessecary to create a xorg.conf.
So the best way is to follow anticapitalistas How To which certainly works.
Somewhwere you must have made a mistake.
Maybe you didnt save the screen_resolution in usr/local/bin but somewhere else, then the comands want match.
                Or something like that.
So my suggestion is, try it again, go step by step, carefully.

Oops, just now, as you desired your post has been deleted.

                  Howdy caprea,

Yep at one time it did work and apparently things are changing faster than this old man can keep track of.

I’m unable to find this location /usr/local/bin.

I will figure it out although it gets frustrating sometimes.

                  Thanks

If you go to layout in ScreenLayoutEditor, save under, this will open up
Sorry, bad pictures, getting better if you click them

On the left side you click on File System (dont know the exact english word)
Then on the right side click on usr, then on local, then click on bin

                      Howdy caprea,

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and that is so true.

                      I immediately see my mistake.

                      I was looking for/usr/local/bin.

It sure is easier to understand with an illustration.

                      Thanks caprea.

I have followed every step as they are written and every photo as sent and have not had any success.

Can’t figure what I’m not doing right or overlooking.

                        Confusing to me.

                              Hey caprea,

I get discouraged at times part of old age I guess and sometimes it takes a bit of pounding to get through the granite.
