Be nice to anticapitalista, please as he has labored tirelessly to make antiX what it is.

I just try to USE the forum in some way that it does work. I sure don’t want to be the one to need to support or pay for something better if it gets the job done.

I agree 100%. Any “issues” with the forum software, “good”, “bad”, or indifferent are a function of what is available, either “freely” or at a very nominal cost so that this forum and the software can continue to be made freely available. On the whole things generally work well; issues are typically related to posting attachments. Even these matters may be a function of network interaction with the forum servers; it’s unclear at times where problems come from. All I can tell you is that with a relatively fast network where I live, (possibly accompanied by the moderation privileges I have), I never experience the issues others occasionally encounter. Either way, this is a generous donation to the free software worldwide community, so let’s respect and appreciate what we have. I count it a privilege to be able to use the wonderful software offered by this team.

okay, poked my nose in here to read about command line and conky tips but what was a topic is now become a lecture hall

the forum tracks the user with ~32 (!) scripts

is it a misunderstanding? When I view-source today and carefully looked, 62 scripts yet none [[[zero]]] are “tracking” scripts.

hi, i already discovered this forum software truly has some aggrivating quirks….. and this quoted “excuse” seems like a misinformed brushoff because phpbb and various other open source [[[FOSS]]] forum software are readily available.

@anticapitalista – please pay no atention to empty criticism… We all appreciate you, the OS you developed and the Forum we maintain – if someone dislikes the forum- well, then that person should not use it!

The forum is a very good part of what makes antiX… antiX – it’s how the community interacts, and new ideas come together – antiX improved a lot over recent years thanks to that!

Just my humble two cents, but I agree with PPC. I’ve learn a great deal from this forum and the people here, and found an os that just works and gets the job done when I need it to.

We can remove anyone who persists in making life unpleasant for others if that would help.

One of my favorite forum contributors left this week because of accusations and unpleasant behavior.

I’m trying to locate it.

Dear @anticapitalista,

I’m just an enthusiast, who recently tried to contribute to this forum, even though my skill is very limited.
But I log in and look at it a lot of times a day 🙂

Closing the forum would be a very bad thing for antiX, in fact the environment is very friendly and here I learn not only about the distro.
In fact, this is the place where not only technical information is provided, but above all here is where ideas are born.

This forum is THE PLUS that antiX has compared to other distros.

I have had a new chess student who owns a computer shop for a week. He didn’t know about antiX. I introduced him to the FT10 version, on an old Toshiba laptop (from 2005, with 1 Gram, 32 bit) and he was fascinated by it. Very probably next month with his help I’ll introduce antiX in a public school.

This kind of success is what I really experience many times.

It would be a real mistake to let all this wither.

From my reading of non-native English speaker, the criticism of @male was focused only on the sw of the forum and not on anything else: not your person, nor your work. In the last 3 months I have read a few times some criticisms about this sw, for the loss of accounts and for the fact that some uploads were prevented.

I’m glad that you’re enjoying antiX.

I still want to remind people:

1) anticapitalista works on antiX in a voluntary manner. His professional career is something else entirely.

2) We are all here to help one another with the promotion and use of some extremely well designed software. People like Dave, others in the past like Xecure (and many others) write code, manage this forum and lead personal lives.

3) we are all human; occasionally we have a bad day.

We must be careful NOT to bring our ‘bad days’ with us to the forum.

Let’s work together and improve the dialogue here.

We don’t WANT to ban anyone; we’d much rather have a fun, peaceful, sharing community here. Some people have been making it difficult.

I’m hoping that the reminder will get everything back on track. I will, however, protect the founder of this work; if anyone has the right to speak his mind, it’s anti himself, period.

We are at approximately 50 subscribers per page times 67 pages totaling approximately 3350 people. (How many users are registered here on the antiX forum?)
I don’t want the antiX forum to end, it doesn’t make any sense for the antiX forum to end because of some rude and even ungrateful people. (How many rude people? Less than 10 people?!)
The 3350+ can’t be harmed because of the rude and ungrateful.
There are many people who consult the various topics of this forum and do not have a registered username and password.

Eu não desejo que ocorra o fim do fórum do antiX, não faz sentido algum o fórum do antiX acabar por causa de algumas pessoas mal educadas e até mal agradecidas. (Quantos são as pessoas mal educadas? Menos de 10 pessoas?!)
Os mais de 3350 não podem ser prejudicados por causa dos mal educados e mal agradecidos.
Existem muitas pessoas que consultam os diversos tópicos deste fórum e não possuem usuário e senha cadastrado.

Muito obrigado anticapitalista e todos os desenvolvedores/programadores do antiX.

I can only say that the forum is doing what the forum should do in a good way.

It is always a shame when the bad stuff starts in a forum

I have never really appreciated negativity in any form.

Now the “emotional” is out of the way the real focus as always for me is the concept that is AntiX

AntiX is a thing of beauty – it deserves to thrive in the linux world

Things “seem” to be OK for the past week or so. However, we lost yet another helpful forum member recently because of repeated rude behavior on the part of some bully. I wasn’t “on-line” at the time the infractions took place and I was also unable to locate the exact incident. (I think some things may have been removed before I was able to spot them).

In any case, you’re right; there are a lot of good, useful, helpful people here, just as there always have been. Unfortunately over the past year or so we’ve had more inappropriate conversations here just in a year than we have had in the entire previous history of this forum – and that includes the 3 or 4 places this forum has been hosted through over the years.

I don’t even like to talk about these matters; unfortunately we’ve had to administrate and moderate much more carefully as the number of people here have grown. Though well over 95% of the visitors here behave as they should, the few who haven’t have:

1) Created conflict and chaos here.
2) Insulted the founder and several of the prominent members here.
3) Violated the spirit and intent of this work.

Anyone who spots these kinds of behaviors: don’t take any action yourself, and don’t engage in debate with the offender, but DO contact either an administrator or a moderator who you’ve seen online recently. Most of the time I check in here 6-7 days a week, but I’m not here 100% of the time and neither is anyone else, so cooperation is essential to the health and vitality of this forum.

Again, don’t debate with someone trying to be insulting or rude; let an admin or moderator deal with it; message one of us who’s been online recently (when it’s nighttime where I am and daytime somewhere else, see if you can find a responsible person who may be around). Thanks for helping, and thank you for the many people here who DO NOT need to be told how to behave. We DO appreciate you.
