I searched for how to copy paste images and asked in another thread but no one has replied for some reason in several days…
I am in antiX using now SpaceFM. It seems the most familiar in terms of navigating for me.
The issue is I’m not being able to copy/paste images from the file manager to a designated area within a browser window.
If I use zzzFM, I can drag and drop but navigating it is much more challenging.
And I’d really like to determine which all of each FM and other related preferences work best and then get them to be set up as default so my PC loads with those options and auto loads my browser as it had been prior to requiring restart, etc…
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

::Also, when toggling menus using Alt+Tab, it’s not set up to cycle backward using the Shift key – is there a way to change that so the Shift key can be used to toggle the opposite direction also?

::In whatever application you are using, can you select the text, starting at the beginning to wherever you want, then hit the right mouse button.
Does a list of choices appear?
If yes, select cut, copy or whatever you need. Then navigate to whatever you want and right click again and paste the contents.
There are Ctrl sequences too but apparently they don’t work for you so this is another way to get it done.

Well, I’m in file manager SpaceFM trying to move images. The left-click drag and drop doesn’t work and when I right click the option to copy the image isn’t available, only to copy which copies image text, presumably filename.
I’m just using zzzFM now which is working for drag and drop but it would be great if I could set my PC to have these preferred settings rather than having it go to default every reboot…is there a way to do that?

::I don’t understand your suggestion. To me in the context I’m stating it makes no sense.
I cannot select the text of the image file within the file manager application and so then cannot right click that which is not selected.

::It sounds like you are wanting to copy and then paste the pixels of the picture itself, not the file or filename?
File managers manage files, not pixels of pictures.
What you could do is to Open the picture with a picture editor, like MTPaint, select all with Ctrl+a, then Ctrl+c to copy it, then click Edit >> Export clipboard to system, then click the Firefox tab, then Ctrl+v to paste the picture into Yahoo mail or other application that accepts pasting of pictures. Many applications require you to attach the picture file instead, but some do allow you to paste the picture itself in directly.
PS: If you wanted the text of the filename you could right click the file and then click Actions >> Copy name to get the name of the file to paste instead of the actual picture or file.
PS: In future, please create your own post when you have a question rather than adding your question onto someone else’s thread. That way you get answers for your question and the original poster doesn’t get confused.

::I get the impression that what you want to do is OPEN an image file in a BROWSER (for example Firefox). Is that correct?

::Hello HisWord1st.
Welcome to antiX Linux and the forum.
I don’t know how to write in English and I send my texts translated by the internet translator. I hope you can understand everything, if your native language is not English, please translate my original Brazilian Portuguese text directly into your language with the help of internet translators.
Regardless of your level of knowledge about GNU/Linux, I recommend you to read these excellent tutorials created by @PPC:
What is antiX and how to try it out or install it.
Short essential how-to list for the complete Linux newbie.
How-to install applications – 2020 version.
How to: correctly use antiX forum. When I first started using antiX, I read the tutorials that PPC created, these readings saved me a lot of time and I think it saves time for any new antiX user. Your time will not be wasted with these readings, everything will seem to be much easier than you could imagine. You will not waste your time searching the internet or even creating new topics, on the contrary, you will gain a lot of time with these readings. I recommend you try desktops that have “zzz” in their name. I usually use zzz-IceWM or zzz-JWM or zzz-Fluxbox (each of these workspaces has its own characteristics and consumes more or less resources). zzzFM will be the default file manager on your desktop, it is very similar to other file managers in other GNU/Linux distributions and Windows XP. To access other antiX workspaces, click on Menu, Desktop, Other Desktops and click on the workspace name, instantly the workspace will be loaded.
Whenever you need to request help or technical support in this forum, explain in detail what is happening, do not mince words, be thorough when writing, inform the characteristics of your computer, such as brand and model. If possible, post the result of the command $ inxi -zv7 from the terminal, copy and paste it here in the message of the topic you are going to create in this forum.
When you start a topic or participate with a post, remember to check the option “Notify me of follow-up replies via email”, by checking this option, you will receive a message in your email box whenever there are replies from topic in question.

::I searched for how to copy paste images and asked in another thread but no one has replied for some reason in several days…
Maybe it’s because people haven’t been able to understand exactly what you’re asking.
If you need to copy a file (image, video, audio, etc.), open zzzFM in antiX 21/22 or SpaceFM in antiX 19, right-click on the file, in the options menu that will appear, click with left click on the Copy option. Open another folder and paste, right-click on the white area where the folders are and click on the Paste option. To disable zzzFM or SpaceFM single click, open the file manager, click on the View menu, Preferences, uncheck the option: “Single click opens files”, Ok, to use double click to open folders and files.
Is that what you wanted to know?

The issue is I’m not being able to copy/paste images from the file manager to a designated area within a browser window.
If I use zzzFM, I can drag and drop but navigating it is much more challenging.
I recently answered a question about draging and droping a file (an image file) to the “designated area within a browser window”.
Going though your questions, as clear as I can:– zzzFM is a fork of SpaceFM – this means it’s developed from SpaceFM, it’s almost the same, but, since SpaceFM seems to no longer be in development, it includes a few bug fixes, and it’s a bit lighter in the RAM usage. It User Interface it’s the same. If you can use SpaceFM, you can use zzzFM.
– Marcelo explained how to set single/double click to open files – using double click to open files can make it way easier to drag and drop a file.
– Resize your File Manager’s window (spacefm/zzzfm) and then resize your browser’s window, so you can see the file in your file manager and also the area of the web page being displayed in your web browser where you want to move the (image) file to.
– Left click and hold the left mouse button on the file name, move your mouse pointer to where you want to drop your file, in the browser window and then release the left mouse button.Tip: if you are using the default Window Manager (IceWM) you can right click a window’s title bar, choose the “Tile” section and select to make a window snap to the left half of the screen, the right half of the screen, etc.- you can use to resize your windows with just a couple of clicks, so you can copy and paste or drag a file between both windows with ease.
If you want, you can install any other File Manager that you like and use it instead of spacefm or zzzfm.
And I’d really like to determine which all of each FM and other related preferences work best …
If zzzfm is not your default File Manager, the easiest way to make it so (if you are using the default desktop: IceWM or rox-Icewm): antix Menu > Desktop > Other Desktops > zzz-IceWM.
From then on, zzzfm will be the default file manager and always open with your chosen settings. If you use Firefox-ESR or Firefox as your web browsers (or, in fact, almost any other browser), you can configure it to always open the previous tabs at startup.

::Really, If he is having trouble he should just take a screenshot showing both the file manager and browser and say exactly what he is doing. We are guessing he is using Firefox, but we don’t know what he is trying to paste into, so don’t know what it expects other than to guess.
Its a learning thing that he needs to overcome (by reading the how to threads at the top of the list as suggested by Marcelo) to provide helper sufficient information that they can provide a solution…
