::Hi andyprough,
thanks for confirmation that the Bullseye installer for Librewolf is working correctly.
checking was on my todo list, just tired after a batch of mixed hardware software issues.I agree it would be nice to have this much less privacy intruding browser variant in the packet
installer.I very much like both Librewolf and UngoogledChromium. Have and use both of them.
I posted with regard to antiX with testing repos enabled as the bgstack unofficial repo from
https://librewolf.net/installation/debian/ unstable gave me some headeaches.
Maybe as Testing can lag behind unstable by a couple of weeks some depend was not available.
In any case I am very happy with the portable version.I always unpack appimages to inspect contents and will not use firefox or variants with the
hidden screenshot extension included due to it being remotely exploitable.For anyone interested in the workings, much of the Librewolf privacy setup can easily be transferred
to the Fox LTS version which has the admin functions accessible. They are blocked in latest.
Nightly is a heavily telemetry laced privacy nightmare. Just transferring some js files is all needed.August 6, 2022 at 3:35 pm #86927Member

Nightly is a heavily telemetry laced privacy nightmare. Just transferring some js files is all needed.You should write a how-to on this, and show us all which js files to transfer from Librewolf to Firefox nightly, and where to transfer them to, in order to make Firefox nightly more private. This would be a very useful thing to know.

::I really do not see the point of a howto when LibreWolf is freely available and well documented.
My intention is to point interested users to solid information on the power and usage of config files
in Firefox, especialy in LTS often called the Industrial version.
Also useful background for those who have the ambition to self compile firefox and have abundant memory
and powerful CPU. 16 GB Ram was not enough in my attempts.The Librewolf settings folder contains text of the config file and further docs, there is also a lot of info
in the FAQ. Nothing is obfuscated, hidden or access deniedMuch easier to understand than Moz developer documentation_or my grammar and spelling mistakes :-).

::andyprough, a lot of places within the firefox source code contain conditional branching.
“if this build is Nightly, then do…..”
The ‘do’ [[[in effect]]] often directs the browser to override a given user-supplied preference value in favor of a hardcoded “Nightly-specific” value.
edit. Essentially, the notion “make Firefox nightly more private” is impractical [[[impracticable,,, impossible in practice to do]]]

::Sorry readers and thanks iznit.
my post was not as understandable as intended. Only LTS firefox has all admin functions accesible.
Regarding latest and in particular nightly it would have been better if I had written

::Fresh update to Librewolf to 104.0 available.
Something changed as the unpacked appimage would not run from opt, maybe with elevated
priveliges but that is something I do not want to risk.Starting is faster if the image is decompressed, this is a sane appimage format, just
rename with added .zip ending then unpack. give launch_librewolf.sh a+x permissions.
Right click on the file then use the offered tool to make executable.Just made a .librewolf_prog folder in home, give launch_librewolf.sh a+x permissions.
Right click on the file then use the offered tool to make it executable.I removed the hidden screen shot tool it inherited from firefox as maybe also remotely
accesible in Librewolf. It is in /home/username/.librewolf_prog/browser/features/.
Renamed the pingsender extension. guess I am paranoid.Easy to create a starter in user menu using the show,hide,add item tool from control center.
I mostly use toolbar so added there too.Enjoy a browser which does not have known hidden telemetry and never madly pings away whatever
you do. -
