Does anyone have stability issues with any of the recent Opera Web browser updates? It HAD been working fine; yesterday it was failing on 70-80% of all Web sites, including the antiX forum. Maybe another update will resolve this?

::I should have posted these comments in the NEWER thread, but since I already posted here, I’ll post another comment regarding the Opera browser here too:
I tried it on Debian and the version reported is Version:79.0.4143.22; this version, for better or for worse, works fine.I’ll try MX Linux and my two antiX images on this system and see if anything (BETA 2 for BOTH runit and sysvinit images) has resolved the issue; if not, the version cited above could be an alternative.

::Version:78.0.4093.184 is being used by MX Linux on one of my systems and that works too.

I’m having trouble with 79.0.4143.22 also. Last update antiX made, to that version, it broke. Doing the same thing, breaking on half the web pages out there. Today I updated to the same version, when booted to Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon, through the update manager and it’s running fine under Mint.
Note that this isn’t with the beta ISO- this is with the regular antiX 19.4 release. I have 19.4 on two different machines, and getting the same errors when trying to use Opera in the current version. I haven’t tried MX Linux yet- don’t have it installed atm but on Mint it’s fine.

::You’re right: Version: 78.0.4093.184 on MX Linux WORKS.
I updated it a short while ago and many sites no longer work, so it’s probably an issue with either Javascript or one of the other features in HTML5 based Opera browser’s latest update.- This reply was modified 1 year, 7 months ago by Brian Masinick. Reason: Fix sentence

Opera has since updated again, and it still is coming up a lot of broken sites on Opera, in antiX.

I’ve updated in the past couple of days and I am still coming up with sites on the updated Opera browser that do not work properly any more on MX Linux and antiX; curiously enough they DO work fine on Debian (same version of Opera), so the problems with Opera relate to something in a common infrastructure that is present in these Debian derivatives but not Debian itself. I can try again, but that’s what was happening up until at least yesterday evening.

::To verify, with Opera Version:79.0.4143.72 on Debian Sid – siduction derivative, with a Kernel: 5.14.0-7.1-liquorix-amd64 x86_64, it works fine.
Tried the antiX forum – works.
Tried the MX Linux Forum – works.
Tried Yahoo Mail – works. That tells me that at least Debian Sid works fine with this instance of Opera.

::Dear Brian,
I can confirm that Opera doesn’t work very well with Antix 19.4 Full.
It’s sad because I use Opera on my smartphone because there is a translator and a good synchronisation with my Opera on my Antix laptop.
Firefox Android doesn’t have a translator.
Now I have to go back again and again to Google Chrome.
Best regards,

::I just installed Opera Version:79.0.4143.72 using Package Installer on to antiX-19.
Since it was my first install, it set up a profile (perhaps using an old profile is causing the crashes?)
It seems to be working ok so far.
Which sites are causing trouble?Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

::I tried this multiple times, clearing .cache/opera and .config/opera.
Doesn’t matter; once you login to the antiX forum using Opera it fails, but some other sites work.
The browser doesn’t halt, it just refuses to load login sites; yahoo has the same problem if you login.

::I’m not seeing any of those issues.
I can surf the net to any site including this forum and play youtube videos, login to my yahoo mail account etc.Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

::I confirm, with Opera, the antiX forum is not accessible.
See my screenshoot.

::For your information, in Package Installer, there is no (more) Opera and Vivaldi.
