Script to position 2 or 3 windows in different orientations, side by side, top and bottom…
1) The scripts split_tile_LR.sh and split_tile_RL.sh will a show the first two opened windows side by side, left to right or right to left. See image1
2) The scripts split_tile_TB.sh and split_tile_BT.sh will a show the first two opened windows top and bottom or bottom and top. See image2
3) The scripts split_tile_LRB.sh and split_tile_RLB.sh will a show the first or second window at left side and two more in the right side at top and bottom. See image3
How to add the script as shortcuts
Extract somewhere on your PC
1) You can use the app Add Key, select and key binding and the address of the script you want to use.
2) Add the shortcut manually adding the short in desktop settings, like in IceWM.
key "Alt+Ctrl+3" /home/oren/Documents/split_tile_1.0/split_tile_LR.shCredit: the script are based on Antix wingrid.

::Nice idea. When I saw this post I got over-exited, thinking you had created a script that could split already non maximized windows in 2, either vertically or horizontally, à la real tiling window manager.
Even not doing that, I can see the point, if users have 1 to 3 windows, to use this script and “tile” them automatically…
Very nice implementation (I have not reviewed the code, and I tested 3 scripts only).P.

A “real” window tile manger like the one in !Pop OS is really nice you can have any orientation of any window, unlike mine that only works for first 2 or 3 opened windows. but it have to run in the background and take resources and I didn’t want that, not that I can write such a script.
It’s really easy to change orientation form side by side to top and bottom with the shortcuts.
