::Dear Brian,
it was clearly not you making us unhappy with your words!All I intended to do was greet people, anticipate somewhat warmer weather (at least in some regions) and share happy thoughts. My “happy thoughts” clearly made others UNHAPPY, and I regret opening this discussion.
It was an unhappy coincidence of events, which triggered this misunderstanding of your true intention. I couldn’t other than understanding your words as being meant sarcastically. You should know, here in Germany they have even cancelled Street Carnival in COLOGNE (THE German City of street Carnival, people have prepared nearly a whole year for this single day), so you might understand here is not any reason these days to be happy at all. Ukraine is not that far away, and Putin does his very best to set people of European countries in fear of his imperialistic phantasies.
So the nice sunshine and warmer degrees outside which have started actually the last days here also are not enough to make people feel like spring. It was a good idea to split these followups from your original posting, which I do know to cherish now, really, once I’ve understood you did mean it in the true sense of your words.
What concerns the rest of it, summoned in this split: antiX does understand itself as an anti-fascist flavour of Linux, so I believe we as a community are to stand for this value when people like male come here and place pin-pricking postings against this spirit, while showing clearly they haven’t learned and understood anything from history, repeating constantly the old propaganda stuff we are tired of meanwhile. So I repeat my invitation to take a seat and watch and think about the Brecht Theater “Mutter Courage” I have linked to. Compare what you hear/read with the most recent events in Europe, and draw your conclusions. It is worth the time, maybe at Evening, after a nice sunny day in this early March.
Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

::@PPC: I don’t think that you created any animosity here. As far as my comments are concerned, I was bothered enough by the responses they seemed to trigger that I deleted them entirely and shifted the name of the topic; I changed the title; in my opinion it appropriately describes what began as a ‘happy’ comment and degraded enough to shift it and consider trashing it.
If we examine the forum guidelines, some – not all – comments express disgust, even anger. The only reason I am not closing it entirely is that there are, indeed, many unpleasant, even disgusting events that many cultures, my own included, have been guilty of more than once.
I think the truth is that common citizens of many places have a lot in common; it’s often the government and large companies that do offensive things to those who are unable to find a suitable alternative. While this is not always the source of issues, all too often it is, and I DO sympathize with the frustration over such things.
What I don’t want to see here are community members attacking one another; we’re here mostly to share helpful ideas about software.
This cafe is an opportunity to occasionally vent about injustice, which most certainly does exist, and we, unfortunately, see instances of it all around us.
I’m acknowledging all of this, yet I want to promote ways in which the many good things and good people can be helpful in positive ways.

::Even if in the current events, namely a cruel war of aggression, my opinion differs greatly from Male’s point of view, I find it no way to move his contribution simply in the trash can.And that even without leaving a note for him here.
