::All of your installed applications are under the path: /usr/share/applications
Application starters are named like: APPLICATIONNAME.desktop (example: inkscape.desktop)
In your home folder, there should be a “Desktop” folder (/home/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop or, the same but, another way to write it ~/Desktop)
Try to copy and paste some starter into it.
From the Terminal:
cp /usr/share/applications/APPLICATIONNAME.desktop /home/USERNAME/Desktop/APPLICATIONNAME.desktopNovember 18, 2018 at 10:52 am #13487Moderator

::You can also drag and drop any application from /usr/share/applications
or from /usr/share/applications/antix to your desktopNovember 18, 2018 at 5:44 pm #13489Member

::Well thanks for the replay but, I’m stupid but neither of these work for me.
I feel like the first day I tried to install a Linux OS years ago.
I’m lost…. I can get apps from menu’s, even got Boinc up and running by using a PPA.
Just sorta weird to me something that basic shouldn’t be that hard to do.
And how to get to /usr/share/applications folder is not clear to me at this point.- This reply was modified 4 years, 5 months ago by dudesplace.

::Cool, the default desktop is rox-icewm. Maybe stick with it until you feel more confident.
Not all desktops (the more lighter one don’t) provide desktop-icons.
The antiX control-centre is always your friend to manage the most things.BTW, I just looked for boinc. It is installable through the package-manager synaptic. It is not recommended to install ppas on antiX, better stick with debian and antix-repos.Then antiX is rock-solid.

::Still a little confused I did it once now I can’t do it again.
Which desktop uses the least amount of resources, as in I don’t need snapping mutable desktops opaque screens, etc?November 20, 2018 at 5:26 am #13532Forum Admin

::If you want icons on the desktop, you MUST choose an option with Rox or Space(fm). You have plain fluxbox, which does not allow icons t be put on the desktop since there is no desktop as such.
Lowest resource is to use one of the min- options. However, not only do you not get icons on the desktop, there is no default wallpaper either.Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
