I actually think the lockdowns should be even stricter (plus mass testing).
People’s summer has been ruined by the inadequate response to this deadly virus.
If governments had responded better and faster then we would be at the end of this crisis (for now), not the beginning (as is the US despite what the politicians say). It is far too early to talk about ‘back to normal’.
People’s lives are worth more than the economy.
Workers have had to go to work without adequate protection, many deemed ‘essential’ are not.

My country has been in lockdown waaaay longer than the US, and it IS extreme lockdown (no going out for no reason, cannot do sports/exercise outside, cannot go out for walks, no visiting friends, etc.). We can only go out for shopping or emergencies, alone or helping someone who cannot do things on their own, never going out for pleasure. Not even children are allowed to go out and play. People can “walk their dogs” (stupid how they say this, it really means getting the dog out to shit, not for “a walk”) farther than 500 meters from home.
Why this you may ask? Because people are STUPID. This is the biggest thing I have learnt from this pandemic. People are stupid, only think in themselves and their own problems and gains, cannot understand what is going on and will believe any stupid OPINION (yes, opinions are more important than facts) if it aligns with their beliefs.
This virus ISN’T the most deadly, far from it. But it IS one of the most contagious. The problem ISN’T how deadly it is, but that so many people get it that it collapses the hospitals. Medics have so many cases they cannot attend to people with other problems (these patients get worse or die) and they don’t have enough respirators for people with severe respiratory problems (they die because they cannot breathe). And because STUPID people of the government aren’t ready and don’t know how to handle emergencies, they cannot provide enough protection for medical personnel, so these people who are trying to help the patients also get ill (and cannot help anyone –> more people get worse or die).STUPID people go out saying “It cannot kill me, I am young”, but then they carry the virus and pass it to someone else that IS more likely to experience horrible symptoms. Individualistic mentality is killing people.
“I just want to go out to do XYZ”. Good for you, but if everyone wants to do this, they may not fall ill, but they may bring the illness to someone else. More people have it, more people collapse the system. That is why “they don’t let us go out”, it is because people cannot think beyond themselves. Maybe their family will not have a problem, but what about the rest of us?People’s lives are worth more than the economy.

Economy is not a natural thing, or “created by God”. It was invented by humans to serve humans. If we serve the economy, we are doing it wrong. The “Me profit” mentality is more important than “Me healthy” mentality. Asking for “Us healthy” is impossible for such short-sighted people.

The more searching i do to compare when first confirmed cases appeared in various parts of the world, the more I begin to wonder how long we have had corona virus spreading around, and being treated for respiratory infections and such when it was the corona virus. I do happen to know a handful of people that had gotten sick and were confirmed as having it in 3 different states. I’m thinking many of us all over have had it, and many are carriers without knowing.
I agree with you on mass testing. But I don’t think its being done or pushed because of how many that will test positive. Imagine the panic it would cause. Neighbors turning on neighbors, family turning on family. We do have alot of ignorant people that seem to look for reasons to do stupid things.
Sometimes its just best not to provoke the true colors out of people… but then again, it can be quite entertaining.

Here, we watch the videos of people cheering for health workers in London, and they are inspiring, but they don’t really connect. We know our health system won’t be able to handle much. We also know that with 65% of the workforce being informal and with no such thing as unemployment benefits, the economic impact of quarantining will be devastating to us. Already, in my city of Puebla, half the population has no access to water, or not enough. Soon, people will get kicked out of homes, and hunger – already on their minds – will likely become common.

Regarding Bill Gates, in spite of the fact that he started a large proprietary software company that was the most antagonistic of any major company towards free software, and after leaving, has been involved in multiple social projects, he has clearly made his personality clear during the most recent pandemic. He uses wealth and authority to continually gain control over others and uses his influence in detrimental ways.
I’m DONE giving him more opportunities to prove anything, he’s continually proven that he is greedy, selfish and sometimes dangerous, the kind of person who needs to be watched. I think that his many corporate and personal offenses deserve long incarceration.

I think i know what happened (scientists messing with nature), but maybe I’m wrong too.
Nothing brings back the dead, but one would hope we could learn from our mistakes. I don’t think the economics justify more people dying.

For all those “Anti 5G antenna” people, my country has been emitting TV for years using the exact frequencies that are used by 5G (no coronavirus here until this year). Because 5G is coming into the country soon, many channels had to change their Frequencies. Are the new frequencies they are using worse than 5G antenna frequency? TV channels are causing COVID-19 ! (sarcasm here)
One of the things I hate the most is people spreading “their truth”, aka their opinion. Opinion and fact are not the same thing. This is exactly what they are talking about when people talk about “fake news”. So many people now have a voice, being the center of attention is very easy, and “everyone” wants to be famous…
If you are not going to think for yourself, do not let others think for you. If you are not going to inform yourself, do not believe everything “they tell you” (both “them” and “anti-them”).
When I was once caught in something I believed (it was actually a big and fat lie written very well and convincingly) because I read it and thought it true, I learnt not to trust what other people wrote.
